Major bugs were found. Handsets were overheating badly, and they could not maintain a WiFi connection. So the update is delayed indefinitely.

Not possible with next to no code changes except NIAP-related changes.

BlackBerry having been in the security certification business for a while, it is kind of shocking that they predicted the dates wrong twice.
You'd think that their experience in certification processes would've made them not promise a time-frame initially and then they go out and promise a second one that was also wrong.

It's not that anyone thinks that the delay is their fault, it's that for the few years, it seems they've been on a losing streak when it comes to meeting their self-imposed due dates.

The original BB10 delay is still one for the record books lol

    Was it a "Promise"? Lol
I always take these things as a projected estimate.
I just don't get all this angst over an insignificant update to a dying OS.

Substitute 'projected estimate' for 'promise' and changes nothing on my point.

You've been around long enough to remember the great many 'projected estimates' that have fallen flat the past few years.

You mean your point is that BB is always late? Okay, not much news there. I guess you shouldn't be at all surprised then. The thing is, the delayed launch of BB10 had huge impact on the future of the platform. Now we are talking about an insignificant update to a dying platform, and I just don't get all the drama over it.

I know the first thing I thought of when I woke up on the first of July wasn't about an update to BB10.

Maybe it's not possible to get this security certificate for BlackBerry?

Chen has the ways, means, and will to break into BlackBerry10 devices and/or intercept communication in order to "help cops kick @ss" so who in their right mind would award them a certificate when they don't even try?

At least with Apple it took a third party and was against their will. They made a good faith effort at security. BlackBerry's only security was building this myth of security built on nothing but lies that lasted until Chen "spilled the beans" late last year.
