    Hi,

Thanks to great BerryLeaks team, the latest leak 10.2.1.845 has Japanese Input. This leak is data only, no radio for calls. Therefore I would like to know if anyone can help me get this language onto my .1791 release. The language bar is this:

    sys.data.imf.ja_JP-10.2.1.0.bar

    Bar list: https://mega.co.nz/#F!LRlWAaRD!RC4m7nPNHylYmusYH2dvZg

    Thanks in advance!

It's probably built into the core of the OS so there's a chance it might not work.

    Is this needed?

I'm going to try to use any side loading tools like the Chrome extension or vnBB10 to see if it works once I'm at home.

6 continuous hours of lecture at the university on a Friday doesn't help

I'll be sure to report back later tonight about the progress

sorry, it was on the OS leak thread where i mentioned i tried to install the bar and it didn't work. there was a suggestion to maybe install both this and the root file. Also, my friend that works at RIM, he has a functioning 10.2.1.815 and i tried the japanase input. It works a bit differently than on BB7, where we enter the romaji and the hiragana appears and we can hit the space bar to get the most common kanji and/or list of kanji. But it works and is real, finally. I think all leaks past this one should have it, so if we wait a bit more should be ok too.

Can you give us details on how it works? Like how we input text?

i used it on a Q10, the characters and choices were showing up below the word after pressing space bar (compared to above on my 9900). it also seemed a bit sluggish when pulling up kanji, but this should get better with every release. Did anyone bother to install .845 to try it out? No voice calling on that release, so a lot of people just going to wait.

As promised here's what Japanese input looks like on BlackBerry 10. Now this is basically without the radio file and as akhenatongup mentioned it's similar to how it was on the legacy devices. Now I added some screenshots, and it seems like the native apps also recognize the locale of it and act accordingly. To be honest I didn't find much lag and for the kanji, that was pulled up fairly quickly too. Although again this will all get better in time. It's awesome to see that higher builds will see Japanese language input, no more replying on IME apps. Screenshots posted below

Only thing is we need to tap word on screen to choose word.
Like 9900, it had been better to choose word by pressing shift key..

I think as long as you can choose Japanese input you can use also android ATOK or
shimeji or google Japanese IME as IME (if those applications can be side loaded to BB).

Q10 seemed a bit different from 9900 when i tried it. But works fine and finally can input japanese. Next leak should be interesting. Thanks for the screenshots.

Which file or files did you use to sideload? I tried sideloading only the sys.data.imf.ja_JP-10.2.1.0.bar but the Japanese input did not come out as an option in languages.

I loaded the the full OS. There are core OS files it seems which is why sideloading the bar files didn't work. I reverted to Z10STL100-3/10.2.0.1803 because it has a radio but I did lose Japanese input

Google Japanese Input CAN be sideloaded after usual apk-to-bar conversion on my Z10 with OS 10.2.1.845, however, it CANNOT be selected as Japanese IME. Meanwhile, Japanese input is operational on my Z10 with OS 10.2.1.845 . . . although I cannot make any phone call.
