Nope, on bb10 you can also wake upp the phone by swiping up. And you dont have to swipe up three times like you describe.
    1. Wake up the phone with one swipe.

Thats all it takes. If you want to go to the hub swipe right.

There are tons of threads on the double and triple swipe bug. Here is one of them. Do a search.

People tend to remember the irritants, especially for new products and that was one of them.

    This is so ironic:
With the iPhoneX Apple brings something up where BlackBerry10 device could have been in 2015, when they had executed right...

And BlackBerry just announced that their Flagship devices (Priv & DTEK60) will stick with Android 6! LOL!

Thanks Chen and Thurber for your visionary actions and executing!

It's important to remember that iOS itself was never that impressive.

Apple's big innovations were hardware design, gesture navigation, and the app store business model that they based on the iTunes partnership with the music industry.

Those were huge, game-changing innovations, and BlackBerry never had any similar "magic" to bring to the table.

What BlackBerry did have was a team of great UX designers focused on the way email and phones were used by business users in an Enterprise setting. BB10 was a very efficient OS with great BlackBerry native apps for a very limited set of applications.

It wasn't enough to challenge Apple in the consumer space, but it was very, very good in its own limited way. I hope Apple and Android continues to improve to the point where I won't miss BB10 anymore!

Now, if only Apple would steal the rest of BB10's interface features, I'd be happy to switch to it!

Besides, it's entirely possible that they licensed it from BlackBerry and that BlackBerry is being paid. There's no reason for either company to announce it if that's the case.

Only if BlackBerry is paying HP for taking from WebOS.

Does BlackBerry have a patent on swipe up?

My only point is that those kind of licensing deals are invisible. I'm sure that either HP or BlackBerry would be happy to make a few dollars in a market where they don't compete.

Now Mr. Chen take a seat and learn how to do a real marketing campaign to sell millions of devices using an idea you developed.
Agree with this. It may finally be the one thing that will make me go to IOS.

It's not all about marketing. It's just the sum of all things... yeah apple is super good at marketing their stuff. But they are also good at making them work properly

You are right on with that. As soon as they can build a blackberry better than blackberry... They have my attention now. I hated the home button on devices. BB10 was so fluent.

Anyone who suggests Apple isn't great at hardware design, execution, and marketing is either ignorant or is lying.

I have found iOS to be the weakest of all four recent mobile OSes, in terms of business functionality, but that's only because Apple prefers to push its own ecosystem and style that its loyal users love, at the expense of the openness and interoperability I prefer.

The operating system of Palm phones such as the Palm Pre in 2009. It had a multi-gesture area at the bottom of the phone.

Blackberry management was not appreciative of what they had and how great BB10 was as a gesture based OS. Good on Apple for using gestures. Maybe Chen will now recognize the platform as see the possibilities.

Can Apple "borrow" the BlackBerry vkb and use it on their own device? That's the last piece of the puzzle for me.

Yes, I know BlackBerry vkb is based of swift key which Microsoft now owns.
