Nope. Apple will not allow you to have it all. Unless, of course, you buy an Apple device.

Years ago, word on the street was that someone accomplished it. IIRC, Kev validated the claim.

I dont' understand a lot about operating systems but I guess that an iOS player is something different than having iOS in your device... right?

I know Apple products are overpriced, but I think BB still has enough cash to buy a lot of them if they wanted to.

I know Reebee has something special going on, since dissecting the bar file reveals more of an iOS file structure (lots of .plist files, for one).

    Still, nothing publicly available.

What do you mean 'official'? I doubt there ever will be a official iOS runtime of any sort

Note going to happen, not IOS neither window phone emulator. Android runtime is different as it's based on open source operating system.

But a Simulator isn't a runtime but I stand corrected. There will never be a official iOS runtime on BlackBerry, Android or Windows Phone :P

I met the guy at BlackBerry DevCon San Jose. Nice guy. He was a former BlackBerry employee. He showed me some iOS apps running on a Playbook. But, he made clear that it wasn't iOS in a virtual machine or some kind of iOS runtime and it wasn't something consumers could do. He said that his company was working with BlackBerry to help select iOS developers to port their apps to BB10.

He also shared that he had discussed the potential to develop what he had created further so that consumers could run iOS apps on their BlackBerry 10 devices -- what this probably meant wasn't direct downloads like we have now, but that iOS developers could submit their iOS packages to BB World, sort of the way the Android emulator first functioned. At any rate, he said BlackBerry wasn't interested. He said they were really focused on making sure that their native BB10 ecosystem grew and thrived and that there were some who thought that the Android emulator was a bad idea because it could hurt the growth of native apps. He was actually sort of on the fence about it himself. He preferred to see BB10 be the "best of both worlds" running Android and iOS apps, but he understood that a great deal of effort went into Cascades and that the effort was to build a platform not just sell a phone that could play apps...
