Yes it is. I use linux, and last night I installed chrome extension for BlackBerry and i installed few apps in few minutes.
    Very straightforward. No probems whatsoever.

    Problems:
I am using a Chromebook and would like to sideload some bar files.

I installed the BB10/playbook chrome extention, set my Passport: into developer mode, connected with USB. I entered to ip address in setting, network, USB and saved it (it did not save the /30 part) and tried to connect.

Says 'This site can't be reached 169.254.0.1. Took too long to respond'

    Any ideas?

Make sure you use 169.254.0.1 in the ip box - don't use /30 . Try another usb cable (preferably the stock BB cable). Try another usb port on your Chromebook (if you have). Restart your Passport and Chromebook.

Other than those suggestions (which you may have already tried) , I don't know what else you can try. The process works fine on my Win10 laptop.

One other thing - not sure if you need the BB usb driver on your Chromebook. ????

It works for me as well, both Windows 10 and Linux Manjaro. Might be worth checking if installation from non official sources is enabled on the phone... don't have a clue what's the problem in your case. Chrome extension should suffice if the Chrome can run, no matter the OS

I agree with you. Get a good usb cable. I had the same problem and was frustrated then I just tried another cable and it recognized right away

I already follow the instructions to install .bar file. My problem is the bb10/play book app manager can not load the list of apps from my blackberry leap.
The connection between computer and smartphone is good but the list don't appear on my screen. I tried to refresh my browser many times but the list never come. Do you have the same problem? Please share!
