- I can see where you are coming from, It's probably not the best choice but an available one. Cloud 9, Jupyter, and Evernote desktop use similar dependencies as that console and I liked their UI.
The web browser on this OS has built in Protocols for things like calendar, contacts and settings. View adapts to cards such as PDF's Doc's Sheets's and better rendering than you might think. The Camera, contacts, music and videos app can open as a card also.
Nested objects, template element, canvas , vast selection of scalable icons from base64 to svg. When I refer to HTML im really just talking about the elements that have replaced flash like what ive already listed as well as audio, and video. With contenteditable, and designmode that is all the components you could need if you ask me.
Except Application storage, and backup.

A common gatewayway interface can utilize most of the invocation framework on the device, so native features are still available.
Again same page with dependencies, this isn't 6000 files, more like a handful. Comes down to an exact science of inherited properties, and using inline css for critical elements.
SVG scales as well as the fonts in reader mode. As base64 all the asset images can just be 1 css sheet. lol.
For that smooth ux.. CSS transitions are working pretty well. At no point would I stress code readability in production. You are writing code for a machine to read not a person.
I am not trying to argue a better experience just that one exists for the platform, and I wouldnt want to spend all my time on something that could only be applied to one platform.

To the OP: there are multiple threads about why future development, maintenance, etc. of BB10 is not likely to happen.
Enjoy your BB10 device while you can, and have a plan if it all quits working on January 1, 2020. Again, not likely, but.........

- I really am not sure about that. I am inclined to agree with you but I just have no idea if that would be the case.

Be sure you turn off Protect before December 31st, 2019, and pray you don't ever have to reload your OS.08-10-18 08:45 AMLike 0

Personally I don't think they'll go that far, but money is money and there is a cost to keep the lights on.08-10-18 08:50 AMLike 0 - Several can't get it to work right now... looking like BBID Authentication is down now. Proably just downsizing equipment and a temporary glitch.... but it could be a taste of whats to come.

That way there can be no consequences down the line if they completely shut those servers down. Heck, maybe even currently bricked devices could boot up and function.08-10-18 08:54 AMLike 0 -

I suspect that some time next summer, as the final stretch nears, they will be more forthcoming and clarify this.Dunt Dunt Dunt likes this.08-10-18 09:44 AMLike 1

But I suspect reworking BB10 to clear out the dead stuff (Protect, BBID, BBW, Assistant, Maps, BB Network.... ) would be more costly than keeping an activation server up and running for another couple of years. The question is does BlackBerry want to support either option - or do they want to just be done.08-10-18 10:21 AMLike 0 -
- I agree, they'll let people know more as time draws closer... as I doubt they know for sure what they will do themselves.

Having in mind that brand new BB10 devices are still selling as old stocks arent depleated.
As I see it this platform to be continialy functional, should get a good browsing solution, a good social networking all-in-one app solution and a type of third party UI app that would mimic stock one and could potentialy replace missing BB10 features.
It would be good to hear something possitive about how this can be done. Also a big part of problem would be will the BB10 dev software still be opened for use after the EOL and can it be done without it?

As for the rest... BB10 Developer tools are still available, just there is no money in BB10 development at this point. And BlackBerry has put everyone on notice that it is EOL in 2020. What that means exactly is unknown, but developers aren't going to risk building for what is a declining userbase. And BB10 isn't designed to allow a 3rd Party UI - the security that made the OS a draw, is also what prevents it from being tweaked in the afterlife.
If BB10 lives on after 2020... if will be on the basics or with the help of whatever Android Apps will support Android 4.3.pdr733 likes this.08-10-18 01:06 PMLike 1 - I beleave if enough of us continue to use BB10, they would have no option to deny us of the basic features. If you are willing to build this database, get permission from each developer to "host" their apps, and then maintain this archive... I'm sure CrackBerry would give you a sticky post.
If your thinking it should be easy for someone else to do it... that's probable what the other couple of hundred people that have suggested it, taught too. But it didn't happen when the "paid" apps were removed...08-10-18 01:44 PMLike 0 - Well get to it then....
