When creating a new contact, there should be an option (can be implemented much like the screen you get when hitting compose message in hub):

Where do you want this contact to be stored? Check all that apply:

CardDAV or AS (for whatever accounts you have)
    Device Memory
    SIM Card Memory

The current system or lack thereof in which it does all of the above and I must unlink and delete what I don't want where I don't want it is unacceptable and certainly doesn't provide a "Flowing" experience.

+1 this to make it get views from higher ups who can make this happen.

I know I sound harsh with my suggestions but I want BlackBerry to succeed and I want BB10 to be a 10/10 experience well before the end of 2013.

Taking this post on its own, not seeing anything harsh at all.

Sounds like a good, user-friendly idea.
More options are always a good thing... within reason.

I can't really comment too much in detail, as I am not (yet) using any syncing Calendar setup.
And I believe from your comments about linking that you know how to copy/move a local contact to the SIM card, right?

Yeah...the issue is that it adds it to all contact lists that you have now with no choice to exclude some. Quite odd behavior if you ask me. Not sure what they were thinking.
