Personally, any shell of their Android offerings with BB10 instead, I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

    What about you folks?

The underlying assumptions here is that they'd also resume work on the OS and the whole apps developer community would come to the BBW! Won't happen and I'm sorry to say that! But it's nice to think about it and brings a smile to my face too!

It isn't about the devices, it is about the lack of apps and support for BB10.

Between 2013 and 2015, that’s basically what BB10 users did. That’s over now.

The OS doesn't need any new developments. If you're not app dependent, then BB10 would suffice as is. Running that on an updated spec phone today would make it even more buttery smooth.

Personally, judging from the few comments, there's enough interest that I could see blackberry making a small killing.

    I did - I bought a Classic!

I don't pretend to understand the economics. I thought HP should have invested more in webos as they could have created an alternative to Android & iOS. I know Microsoft tried.

I don't understand how much they really did invest, given what seems to be the potential dividends of having a half billion users or more if they pulled it off.

Anyone that talks about Apps on these devices - do I need 100? NO- so why did the manufacturers not hire or buy a few development companies and bring the ones needed direct to the OS/device?

But I guess that ship has sailed, and we're kinda stuck with iOS & Android.

If BB10 was maintained somehow I'd do that in a second.

    I'd buy one today.

4-5 people want a phone, so that justifies it?

The only killing that would take place would be the killing off of what is left of BlackBerry.

At estimated startup cost of $2 billion/year and maintenance cost of $1 billion/year with net profit of $200/device you only need to find 14,999,999 other people to share your sentiments. Possible if this were 2007 and no Apple. Take solace in knowing that if BlackBerry had started developing new mobile BBtypeOS and ecosystem in 2003 or bought Android in 2005, BlackBerry never had level of positive cash flow to develop either Android or IOS because they had no revenue stream to support it. Monthly revenue model was their rise and downfall since there was no other product revenue. BlackBerry was an undercapitalized company with a great idea.

If they came up with a new design and didn't just cram a Classic or Passport with higher spec'd internals... sure, I'd buy one... but as a collector and not for actual daily use.

Like the interest they had back in 2013 that nearly bankrupted the company.

Many, many more people actually were interested then.

    Not so much now.
