Frosty White Q10/10.3.2.2789 CB10
I convinced a number of people to buy BlackBerry 10 and download BBM. I'm now thinking to myself, what have I done? This company cares more for its shareholders than their customers. That might have worked when they were the top dog but they are not anymore. The priv has 18 months max before they realize they won't be able to syphon off enough money to give to their shareholders. The Priv is dead.
As much as I have started to dislike Chen, I'm starting to hate myself more for giving this company Patronage and so much positive praise in my social circles over the years. I like BlackBerry 10 but I'm sincerely starting to hate the company.
Thank you Chen, shareholders and board of directors. Stop hurting yourselves with your idiotic decisions. Have a freaking long term vision for once in the life of this company. Do the decent thing.
Remember when the PlayBook getting BlackBerry 10 was cancelled? I was fine with that. A lot of people weren't though. One of those people was my father who bought it with the knowledge that it was going to get the update. It didn't. He refused to get BlackBerry 10. How many other potential customers did you scare away? Bad faith?
Remember putting the for sale sign up after the release of the Q10? I do. I was upset but it didn't bother me too much at that time. I had faith in you guys. I had faith in the company. However, how many potential customers did you scare away with that move? You hurt your own investment. Whoever made that decision should have their name in the dictionary next to ID I OT.
Remember that time everyone who bought a z10 and a z30 wanted a new all touch z50 device? I do. What did you guys do instead? Release two niche devices that no one asked for. You guys thought the real reason your phones weren't selling was because they didn't have a track pad. I'm laughing at the absurdity. How many new potential customers did you scare away with that move? Might have convinced one OS 7 user to switch. I feel sorry for him. Poor guy doesn't know much about technology and only reason he bought it is because he hates change and his old phone had a battery issue.
When those people on OS 7 looked at the competition though, were they going to go for the new iPhone without a keyboard or go for more of the same with BlackBerry's offerings? Yet, again, a lost opportunity to sell to both established BlackBerry 10 customers and legacy users by not offering Z50 with BlackBerry 10. Would not even take many televised advertisement showing you're right up there with your competitors. Could have not made one acquisition of xyz company to cover the costs. But, no, even you guys don't believe in BlackBerry 10. You just want the company to look good in the event a potential buyers drives by the office. Everyone in this company wants to cash out for a quick buck.
But that was okay. I forgave you. You had a plan, I thought. However, you, again, hurt your own investment. Why spend the money in the first place if you are going to waste all the work you spent it on?
Remember you launched the priv running Android? I certainly do. That was the precise moment I quit forgiving. In fact, that was the moment I quit caring about you or your products. Now that you have successfully alienated every customer who has ever purchased a product from you and every developer who has developed for you, now you can get what you want. Close the device business how many people would be surprised at this policy?
Even one of your biggest fans here is having a hard time forgiving you. No wonder Crackberry Kevin dropped the Crackberry from his name. if I were smarter, I would have seen the writing on the wall sooner too.
Thank you. You really do deserve it this time. May BlackBerry 10's fate be your future.

True. But if we all made our decision based on popularity, none of us would be using BB10... I'd probably switch to Ubuntu or Windows, though I wouldn't be happy about it.

Three weeks with the Priv, I suggest if you move on from BB10 go and try the Priv you won't be disappointed because iOS with disappoint based on my personal experience with iOS

The way I see it, BB10 has many many years before it fizzles out, if that's the plan by RIM.
I still use a legacy 9900 with a Playbook on my business line and LOVE it. It is a mean work machine combination. The sunset of BIS has not hurt me one bit, and I bet it I can continue to use BIS and a 9900/Playbook combo for at least five more years.
Same with BB10. My Q5 and Z30 are great. I love the OS and believe it is the best I personally have used. I don't patronize a company, I buy product that I like and use the Smartphone OS that allows me to get stuff done quickly and efficiently. BB10 does that. With elegance.
I still have the BB Passport to migrate to when my Z30 poops out. I doubt my Q5 will. This was the most highly underrated phone ever produced by BlackBerry. I would wager it will be working for years with no issues whatsoever. But eventually, I'll migrate to a Passport and the mighty Quad Core and Work Wide of that product. By then, the price of a Passport will be half of what it is now, but the OS will be great and will still work for me. Unlike BIS, it does not rely on any proprietary architecture to work correctly.
As far as iOS and Droid, I have and use both as spare phones. I'm not an iOS fan. I need a hardware BACK and HOME and MENU button on the device. The big HOME button is fine, but then I'm constantly hunting for BACK and MENU buttons within each app and they are never in the same place. It drive me crazy. I prefer Droid, and I use it as a spare phone on weekends. It's fun, but it's not a business device in my opinion. Neither is the iPhone. On Monday, the Berries come out in force and on Saturday I convert back to Droid.
This works for me and that's all that matters.
*Sigh*....I found myself looking at news for the iPhone 7 for the first time ever. It just made me more depressed.

Let's not all get our panties tied up in a bunch. BB10 hasn't died yet lol. I wouldn't prematurely look into ios. We're just speaking on a hypothetical scenario at this point... I know it doesn't look good for the future of BB10 though

I have an iPhone 4s that is running the new iOS 9.x that I mostly use for music streaming in my office (no SIM card just WiFi). I just can't see myself using this OS full time for business. As a play phone? Heck yes. It's a great play phone, lots of apps, Siri to goof around with and good music integration. If I did use it full time, Apple Music would be my best friend. But alas, I'm entrenched in BlackBerry.
And I agree with Phil. You don't bury someone because they have a bad cold. We are a very long way from BB10 going the way of the Dinosaur. Currently, it's still a stellar and elegant OS that is no where near extinction.
Ubuntu Linux is my main OS for my home PC, so i think it would fit quite well.
I don't know why anyone would want to go to iOS with the over priced storage (physical or Cloud), lack of a file system and the proprietary software and charging cords which cost a fortune.
Am still curious as to what solutions MS comes up with for their WP10 and messaging. I am also excited about the new tools in Android Marshmallow for process and app control which should help the battery.
Until then as long as BB10 breaths I will use it

You gotta' start this thread on iOS forum, not here, I guess. There is nothing more pointless in mobile world than iOS. Even Android is better. Seriousy, I never seen anything more uncomfortable in typing than iOS.

I've already moved on. Just bought a nexus. I hate it. I really do. Compared to a z10, Classic and passport it sucks. It really does. Clunky but functional. However as much as I hate android I'll force myself to use since I have no choice. As much as I hate android I hate Chen and BlackBerry management more

I feel iOS is just to restricted for my needs as I email a lot and adding a few attachments is a tricky thing on iOS. No access to the file system is also an issue for me. I will probably get some form of Android phone.
I will stick with BB10 for as long as I can because it works great for me. I don't care if it doesn't get any updates as long as it works.
Rocking the awesome Z30,Q10 and the super awesome passport.
Care to explain why you don't like Android?
Because many people place more value on iOS's strengths than its drawbacks. Most people can get by with Apple's ways of bypassing access to iOS's filesystem. Yes, iOS is proprietary but so are BlackBerry 10 and BlackBerry OS (and even WP for that matter). And charging cords, well, you get one with your phone and so many people have iPhones nowadays that you can find a Lightning cable almost anywhere.
Anyway, it says a lot about the strength of the iOS experience (in my opinion) that Apple has been able to control so many aspects of iOS and the iPhone that it forces people to conform to the way Apple ideally sees its customers using its products.
I guess people thing the phone will just stop working when BB stops supporting BB10!
Far from it folks, worry about something more important like cookies, yummy or BlackBerry Pie yum
iOS has one other shortcoming and it's a biggie for me. I RIP all my CDs to FLAC format. iOS does not play FLAC natively. I've tried the Apps to get iOS to be able to play FLAC, and it's just not workable for me. I don't like the closed system where only Apple format audio playback is supported. And using iTunes is something I just do not like to do.
BB10 supports FLAC files right out of the box, as it should be in 2016.
Windows Phone is also my first choice.... but the ecosystem isn't there and it isn't getting any better.
It really comes down to either Android or iOS... have used both a little, and iOS just seems to be easier to "get". Plus most everyone I know has an iPhone and Facetime has become pretty common - unless you don't have an iPhone or iPad.
Ditto, but not until my Z10 becomes unusable.

I would move to iOS now if I was you. These guys think they can save there business with Priv they are crazy, and at that price pfff. I would definitely buy a 6S for that amount to be honest.

Response to ssbtech. Cause android phones suck in relation to bb10. It would take hours to detail all the reasons. The only upside is that android does update their OS occasionally. Unlike the criminally stupid chen

I bought an iPhone 6s one month ago after bad experiences with defective Passport bought from BlackBerry and Amazon.
The phone is really great, app ecosystem is really strong and the general aesthetic of the UI is a plus compared to Android.
But I really miss my Passport sometimes. My pragmatic side knows it's the right thing to do to buy an iPhone at this time, but on the other side, I don't really have feelings using the iPhone, where i was so enthusiastic each time I picked up the Passport.
I know iOS will improve and implement more and more gestures with iOS10 and it will be great, but still.
My girlfriend hates me for not liking an 800 phone the majority of people wants, and I understand it's a big first world problem.
But I still think there was a special feeling using a BlackBerry.
A few months ago before I realized that kind of person Chen really is and what kind of person Tim Cook really is I'd be laughing at anyone going to IOS after BlackBerry.
Turns out I was wrong. Yes IOS just to have backdoors etc. Then starting with version 7 they closed that down and admitted it was wrong to purposely give the government access.
Not Chen though. Chen would hand you over in an instant rather than make sure that even he had no way to spy on your phone.

Will they get to Tim Cook and jail him until he agrees to compromise his phones? Maybe. At least he tried. I respect that.
Chen sucks. And BlackBerry deserves its fate.
