    Just wondering why BlackBerry isn't supporting Flash in the browser anymore. If a flash browser of minimal size can be installed and work on a BlackBerry, why can't it be native?

    Would supporting flash negate what BlackBerry is currently supporting?

    I know flash is on the way out, but why not support it until it's completely dead. Don't know much about compatibility so just interested for the reasoning.

    Licensing and security issues. Since adobe don't support flash themselves anymore, why would BlackBerry do it???

    I guess it would be a major embarrassment to have the stock browser hijacked by a rogue Flash script.

    Flash has just been dropped by YouTube.

    It's about to be globally dropped by everyone as HTML5 has pretty much killed it.

    Oh, plus licencing costs.

    A lot of sites will keep using flash no matter what... html5 is just not as capable as flash yet. For videos html5 might be okay but there are lots of uses other than that as well... not even live streams are possible with html5 as of yet... and streams just got real popular thanks to twitch etc

    You're right. There's still a TON of sites out there using flash. Unfortunately for money and security (mostly money in licensing I'd suspect) BlackBerry decided to drop it. They were the only platform still officially supporting it. Of course other platforms have apps to fill the gap. Where BlackBerry doesn't, aside from android apps where your mileage may vary.

    It is what it is. That's my attitude. Can't do nothing about it now. I don't watch much video or play flash games etc on my phone so I've hardly noticed but I can see where it would be a huge pain for others.

    Unfortunately either app development or adoption of html5 is the best to hope for at this point.

    Not BlackBerry, but Adobe dropped Flash development for mobile devices about 2 years ago.

    What are you talking about? I can watch videos on twitch without flash... live streaming is not uncommon with html5

    There's no standard way to do it. None of the browsers support rtsp/rtp. Current streams are done by faking a never ending video to the visitor... it's a poor solution and has poor performance too

    Media source extensions will be a ****ty but working solution but Firefox still doesn't have a stable release with support for it...

    Well, not 100%.

    They have defaulted to HTML5 player for everything and pushed flash off to an iframe so they can ditch it at will. It's only a matter of time.

    True but Blackberry was supporting mobile flash on their own and were developing and patching it for bb10 devices. Thats why BB10 has had flash support up until now.

    It's the one at the top for $1.99. It's pretty good. It's an android port of course, but it works great. It handles flash sites like a champ.
