The computer has internet access, that's how I posted this. This is what the VNC diagnostic screen says:

    Connection test failed.

VNC Server appears to be behind a NAT router with IP address 172.56.35.217. You will need to configure that router to forward port 5900 to this computer before you can connect to VNC Server over the Internet.

What's odd is my pc shows the ip address as 192.168.0.2 with .1 being the bb10 (Z30).

I realize there's no port fowarding within the tether app so I'm wondering if I have to attach the phone to a router. I'm trying to keep this as portable as possible. TIA

Is 172.56.35.217 the public ip address of the BB10 phone?

nah, it begins with 30.202, fwiw, ipconfig/all doesnt show server or 172 address, pinging it gets timed out.

Navigate to this URL http://whatismyipaddress.com/ from your bb10 device and post the results.
Also do it from your iPhone just for fun.

You're going to want to keep VNC contained to your local network. Once you open a port for it to the public Internet you're just asking for trouble.

We use bes12 which creates a VPN tunnel back to our internal network. Then all we have to do is use rdp desktop launching it from the secure side of the phone. No VPN required. Works great and it saves me from having yo use my laptop most of the time.
