Does anyone have or know somebody who has an ultrarare STA100-1? Mine is on its last legs and I'm looking for a replacement. I'm willing to pay 500 USD for one in good condition. If you don't have one but you know someone who does, I'm willing to pay a 50 USD finder's fee.

    Thanks in advance!

It was never released, any surviving examples slipped out of Waterloo or AT&T.

    See here.

It's the single-most compatible Z30 for my network, and in a few years it may be the only one that functions on it since they have some pretty major frequency refarming plans.

Is this one the rare Z30 for getting LTE on AT&T?

    Thanks for the good wishes.

The frustrating part is I have two of them already, but I've worn them both out. (One might be reparable but I'm not totally certain yet).

I was gonna say repair them yourself. You only need to keep the motherboard of the original one, perhaps the charging port might be a challenge. Transplant everything else.

I spent a _lot_ of time trying to track down one of those -1s. I thought the Z30 was pretty much the perfect phone but for the fact i couldn't get AT&T's LTE network (a notable and amusing exception was the local NHL arena).

Like a lot of folks, especially after the rave reviews the Z30 garnered, I was anticipating a "Z50." I was disappointed when Boy Genius Louks announced a slider instead, and i was crushed when it turned out to be Yet Another Android POS.

Lesson for Chen: Never hire someone who can't be troubled to put on a tie.

I'm nowhere near techie enough to do that.

From my understanding, the first one is irreparable because I ****ed up badly the SIM slot, which is evidently soldiered to the motherboard.

The second one simply needs the charging port fixed, but that's apparently 100$ to fix, and I figure I should just put that money to a new Z30 since someday this one is gonna die anyway, and I want a backup.

Separate from buying another 100-1. Fix the one you've got for the $100. Then I'd pay that fixit shop a reasonable amount to do the motherboard. Lastly, I'd buy another 100-1 when and if available.

I'm being serious and not being my usual ahole self. I enjoy being myself but in this case, I felt important enough to be serious. Again, best of luck.

Get a 100-5 and come over to t-mobile? Seriously, was looking for a 100-1 a while back and found one for sale but realized -- though it is the perfect match for t-mo -- I would get LTE on the 100-5.

Depends on where you are. I was recently with a group off the main corridor. The AT&T and Verizon users had no problems whilst the T-Mobile folks were sucking hind tit.

I'd never consider T-Mobile due to coverage issues.

Been with t-mo ten years: LTE, best overseas rates and coverage with domestic roaming onto AT&T most places (unless that's changed).

It's true that T-Mo has some big gaps if you go off the beaten path - but that's going to start changing very soon as their 600MHz spectrum (Band 71) is lit up. By the end of 2018, it will be on everywhere, and those lower frequencies have very long range and far better building penetration. Verizon's network advantage will go away for real.

The downside is that you'll need a newer phone. Nothing released to date supports Band 71, but phones being officially announced this week in Berlin will be supporting it. I'll be picking up an LG V30 as soon as it's released, and it has Band 71 support.
