I agree to some degree, 10.2 had a nice look to it, but 10.3 imo looks more refined , works much more efficiently, and also looks clean and simple.
So far, 10.3 on the q10 works very well, fast , crisp, camera operation is superb in comparison, and the battery usage is way done. I love it.

Well on the Classic 10.3 has been changed just a little too much. I came the q10, and if I was still using my q10, I would totally agree, upgrade was needed. But there are small things that have been moved/changed/taken out that shouldn't have been touched!

the look of 10.2 and prior has this "dated" feeling to it. 10.3 has a much more contemporary look.

So I guess it depends on what you prefer. I prefer contemporary. Some people like antics and prefer something more conservative

They should bring back themes and once again be the bosses of all other OS in terms of aesthetic appeal and customisation. This way we could choose a '10.2' theme, 10.1, so forth.

That pretty much sums up the thread!

P.S. I face the same issue for picture link showing up below my signature! Time to update my list of feature request post in the CB10 thread.

Funny when I was using 10.2, it felt outdated and 10.3 seem more modern. I think it was those boxes. It just didn't feel right.

Flat icons= less battery use to render.
    That's a good thing.

There's more to this discussion than aesthetics. The spidery font in 10.3 makes the Hub much harder to read. I struggle reading 7pt text on the Classic and Passport, but can just glance at it on my Z30 running 10.2.1.

I've raised this with BlackBerry management more than once.

Personally I'm happy with 10.3, apart from the removal of the search history in the Assistant, it's superior in every other respect.

What about the new calendar app? It's a bit of an embarrassment, no? Worst calendar app on any OS I've ever used. 10.3 green calendar that is.

Yes they completely screwed up the calendar in 10.3 I had hoped that they would have fixed it in 10.3.1 after all the negative responses it got in 10.3 but guess not

I had forgotten about that. Yeah it does suck that we no longer have search history. I didn't use that very often, but it was very useful when I did.

I love 10.3. I wanted those cool features such as LED Colors (native), and the BlackBerry Blend feature. But for stability, I went back with 10.2.1

10.2.1 is just faster and clearer. I don't need giant circle buttons everywhere and getting in the way of my scrolling page.

I'm going to retire BB10 with 10.2.2. Don't like the UI changes in 10.3.x and there are again no customization options whatsoever. Option to change the wallpapers only is not enough these days.

My main beef with 10.3 is I can't play any videos from the video app! I can only watch them through the pictures app! Wtf! And of coarse the stupid reset on the top button, should only be on the end button!

The option to choose between 10.2 UI and 10.3 UI is all we need.

BlackBerry can do it at their end if they don't want to provide the APIs to the devs.

Won't effect the device performance in any way (unless they've achieved a very drastic reduction in size of the UI files).

This could come in the form of themes if they ever get around to implementing it.

And fragment the already paltry native app selection? I'd rather have a consistent UI.

The UI doesn't mess with the apps and won't cause fragmentation.

The re-positioned icons and their shape/ size/ colour won't change the way various APIs interact and function.

UI is just the 'outer envelope' for the OS.

Eg - Tapping the Compose icon in Hub invokes the *same* commands / actions (in the system OS) whether it's 10.2 or 10.3. What's inside the Compose/ Hub APIs and libraries may change but that isn't effected by/ effects the UI.

Maybe BlackBerry will get themes/ UI options to work in 10.4 update.

So why did many of my apps require updates to implement a 10.3-styled UI (with those stupid giant round buttons in the center of the tool bar)? That's all I'm saying. If BlackBerry implemented a simple way for all devs to design apps that changed UIs based on BB10 settings, well that would be one thing.

Going by common sense it should work that way :-)

But they have modified/ rewritten quite a lot of code going from 10.2 to 10.3 to make it work across Passport, Classic and the older BB10 devices.

Anyway, in future I'd love to have something like the Theme Builder for BB10. I used to tweak and customise the default themes for my older BlackBerrys.
