Hub peek shows that I have an unread mail, but as far as I know there is no unread mail.
When I go the hub and "zoom in" to find the unread email, there is nothing.

First question : Do you have an email account that is set to show in its separate account only and not in the Hub? It could be in it separate folder..
Second : Try swiping from the top right corner diagonally down to the left. All that from the Hub!

You probably might've marked one of your emails unread accidently

Have you tried to pinch the screen while in the hub. I think by default this will show any unread messages and should show the message you're looking for. Hope it helps.

Hello, do you have a "threaded" message display style? Maybe there is an unread message in a thread which is not the last one.
Try the pinch gesture in the hub

Did you delete an unread message? In this case you should remove and recreate the e-mail account.
i just encountered that same issue, the unread counter for gmail in the HUB overflow menu and in the HUB peek showed 2 unread messages despite marking all emails read in that account from the browser site. i deleted and reentered the account and all was well for a short while.now the 2 unread are back, tried a HUB refresh and reboot but now I am
i'm assuming it was the gmail servers needing some time to catch up and refresh everything, all is well now
Happens to me almost every time I do a reboot. I usually scroll to the very bottom and the unread msg is there. When I open it takes forever but once opened goes away.

I have this issue preiododixally with my work account only (office 365) and it's a break in active sync somewhere.
If you open hub, swipe from top right corner toward middle 5 times it will rebuild hub and ghost will be gone.

Happens when a threaded discussion contains an incoming message, unread, hidden underneath the most recent message (which has been unbolded because it was read)

Pinch the screen inwards and it will show you any unread messages
