Here's some fuel to the BlackBerry 10 rumor fire
BlackBerry*is now a [mobile security] software company that happens to make devices

At some point, the staying in the hardware business and QNX actually hurts the company because the stock market values companies based on their industry P/E multiple which would be higher for a pure-play security software company than it would be for the mixed-bag that BlackBerry currently represents.
That's how RIM (BlackBerry) really started and that's all it was to begin with. with their pager BB 850 that could receive emails directly from a BES server in 1999 to their first BB Pearl smartphone in 2006. They were an business enterprise oriented software company, who just so happened to make their own devices. Then eventually it just became fashionable to have a BlackBerry, like a badge of success that you have made it in the business world, to worn on your belt. Now it screams something else, it seems...or so I've heard. Anyway, BlackBerry has just come full circle.

and done with devices
BlackBerry has never made more than 5 devices a year and has never been the ones who add a lot consumer type of features it's been a priority for them to sell to businesses and large corporations, the pirv is only the answer to young kids that wanted that. I saw a comercial that says it best, and it said the priv is for the people who want to play games and want apps and are not focused on security.
