Again, use it all the time, mainly for videos, but often pair a Wii remote to the phone and play old snes games. Can't beat them.

Through an emulator..? Now I am most decidedly interested in playing around with what can and can't be paired with my devices..

I have used HDMI out on my Z10, although rarely really, I've used it more on my PlayBook(s).

What this discussion reminds me of, though, is when I first got my Nokia N8 a few years back. It, also, has HDMI out (albeit uses a mini HDMI port, rather than the micro that the Z10 uses - but also, Nokia included a short adapter / dongle so you can use a normal HDMI cable with it, in the box (as well as a USB OTG dongle / adapter)). I was using my N8 to watch a formula 1 race on my TV in my bedroom, using iPlayer (UK BBC streaming portal) on my N8. I remember thinking to myself, what this needs is some way you can remotely control the N8, so you can leave it plugged into power and HDMI to the TV.

Next day, I looked into it, and it was something already supported - you could use a Wii remote or PS3 remote paired to the N8, using Nokia's big screen app, to remotely control the N8 so that when you had it plugged into a TV, you didn't need to be able to physically touch it. It's rare that you have that situation where the device you've got, truly delights in having extra functionality or capabilities that you didn't initially realise.

I've not used it only because I don't have the cable. Not because I don't have use for it.

Total agree. Very useful when you are travelling and you just want to watch a favorite movie on a bigger screen. Well worth it.

$20 for an adapter? I have HDMI cables in all three sizes and the total cost was under $10.
I use HDMI out on both Playbook and Q10, it's the only real way to watch video on the Q10.
With an adaptor you buy one set of cables for all your devices. You don't have to buy microHDMI cables specially for your BlackBerry.

I (and family and friends) have tons of regular HDMI cables but no microHDMI ones. This way I can use the cables we already have.

Or if you're in a hotel room and want to play some music off your phone and all they have is an iPod dock speaker. Plug into the TV's HDMI cable with the little adapter and you're set. Audio plays over HDMI.

if you travel at all, or even just a couple times a year with your kids this can be a HUGE help.

download some movies on the phone (sd card) or pb and BAM! dont have to spend crazy money to rent them in the room on a rainy day or whenever the kids want one.

I use it all the time, Netflix/Crackle/ YouTube (at hotels), etc. To show presentations, to show family/friends pictures and videos (that's why I got a 64GB card).

Exhibited the awesome story maker function at a wedding where the photographer said it would take weeks to have their presentation ready by and they loved it (not as many pictures, but I gave it to them in less than 30 minutes via file transfer). Later I saw the "professional" one and I couldn't believe the bad visual quality. It was nice, but they need to code it better for quality. You're a pro for gods sake. They still prefer mine because they can actually se the details of things vs the choppy one they got weeks later.

I can go on as to how much I use the HDMI out, but let's just keep it at everyone has their own preferences. I certainly would welcome a dedicated shortcut button but NOT at the expense of the HFMI out.
