Such a small sample of users and yet so many responses. I think this lends credence to my earlier post - Miracast would have been wildly popular on the Z10.
At least I don't have to get a new TV to use HDMI with my Z10.

Speaking of which, watching Netflix on a big TV sure beats watching Netflix on a tiny screen.

I haven't used it a single time on any of my BlackBerry 10 devices.

I did use it a couple of times on the PlayBook.

Buy a Chromecast and be happy. It turns your dumb TV into a smart TV and for $35, it simply can't be beat. HDMI to a TV would work for Netflix, but then you have to worry about your battery being used up. With the Chromecast, nothing is actually being streamed from your phone. So no killing your battery.

on a q10 I find the size of the picture output and the aspect seriously annoying, and impossible to compensate for on the TV. I have tried to use the plex android player, and output the picture to the TV, and I end up with a tiny little picture floating in the middle of the screen. you can't use the 'play on' route as it is not a movie, its the output of the app onscreen. I've tried this on 2 samsung TV's and neither allow the picture to blown up to a decent size. Its such a shame as the playbook is absolutely perfect for this - I just have to use that instead, which makes the HDMI out on my q10 not a great deal of use to me sadly.

Ah man, I love the option. I've used it for a how to connect to youtube on your smart TV from your Z, I've watch dl'd movies on my Playbook, played games for family game/movie night. The HDMI out is awesome! And lest we not forget PORN on a 50"+ screen, is absolutely ridiculous!

Sorry it pains you, take an aspirin. I use it a lot for all kinds of different things. Glad it's there. Just to name a couple...presentation of videos and pictures and games
How many people have even used the HDMI out on the BlackBerry 10 devices?

It pains me everytime I look at it, thinking it could have been used for something more...practical...maybe a dedicated shortcut hard button retaining the history of the past 10 years...

Or it could have been used for...?

RetroArch on a TV is cool too, and a Bluetooth controller allows me to plunk the Z10 next to a charger while I game from the couch.

Occasionally for games and recently I've paired with a BT keyboard to surf while my laptop was charging. I'll be in a hotel for a few days next week so I'm definitely bringing the cable for portable Netflix/gaming...

Yes, I love it too. I use it to watch downloaded movies, youtube videos and also for showing photos. It's really great if you're at someone's house and you want to show it on their TV. I use it a lot on both the PlayBook and the Z10 and I can't imagine not having it now. It's still one of my top 10 reasons why I love these devices. I'm glad the OP brought up this topic though the poster may be disappointed with the resounding positivity. I suspect.

Well I wanted to use mine, but when I went to my local BestBuy to see if could purchase one, multiple employees told me the cable I needed didn't exist. No wonder BestBuy is doing so badly, their employees are a bunch of fools. When I showed them the port on my phone, their response was "it must be a blackberry thing".

I just used it last night actually. I took a trip to NYC, and I was able to show my entire family a picture slide show of my trip on my 50" TV, using the HDMI cable. I download movies on my Z10 for my son, but if he wants to watch them at home, he just plugs it in and watches it on the big TV. I find it very useful. I probably use it 2 or 3 times a month. I love having that option.
There's an old joke about slide presentations of a family vacation in there somewhere...........

That's really idiotic of them since most high end graphics cards have the same damned micro HDMI port these days.
