Link is specifically designed to block attempted restores from a newer OS to an older OS.
However you can use Darcy's tool to fool it into thinking the backup was taken from an older OS.
Bear in mind that you can get unpredictable results from this. Which is precisely why Link blocks this kind of thing by default. ;)

I dont think you can go backwards like that. Sorry
And I hope by "restore" you meant "restore a backup taken on a 10.2 installation to a 10.1 installation".
If you instead meant "reload an earlier OS", then I would have to write a different response.
The only way to do that fo to BlackBerry web va Internet Explorer and check for update plug ur usb and it will reinstall the software to the latest oficial os..g.luck
connect to blackberry link let connect and then restore to original OS. I did it a number of times.
right now I'm on 10.2 but the phone started to hang when I went to asking a call. two times this happen it it continues I'm going to factory OS and just wait for the official 10.2 from carriers
I used link but I did things differently than you'll find posted here. This is what I did:
First drained my battery to 12%
Second I did Security Wipe without plugging my phone up so it would kill the battery during or it got close. 3%.
Ran through the start up skipping everything except wifi.
What happened was it didn't load my SIM so basically the OS was broken. I connected to Link and used main Settings and chose reload. It put me back to the latest AT&T release. May not be a reliable way as it could be hit or miss but is much easier and worthy of trying. You'll know because your Contacts saved to SIM won't show if it works.

Turn off phone, plug into usb, start link.
Reload OS should appear on link

Easiest way yet.....
Disable Network,Data and Wifi and enable Airplane Mode. Plug in phone, allow Link to start, tap the gear and choose reload.
Has worked flawless the many times I have jumped back and forth trying out apps to see which works where.
