If it's an App you can try connecting your device to sachesi and see if you can locate and remove the .bar

He could delete the bar but I think it's one of those that the carrier will just push back on it. I thought putting them in a folder so you didn't see it stayed that way?

It comes with your SIM card and offers some of your provider services ( check your balance if prepaid, activate certain options and so on). If you delete it, it will reappear next time you reboot your phone. Just put it into some drawer/folder and forget it.

It is a carrier app. I put it in a folder TOOLS and I know when I reboot my phone I have to put it back into that folder.

That is a sim based service app. It's on your sim card, it is possible to delete it but it's normally via a ussd code that you get from your provider.

I have the same icon but I use the services offered by my provider MTN.

    Why Blackberry? Because I can!

You can't delete the app, it comes with the sim. In older android versions, it was called sim tool kit.

I'm so glad Rogers only pushes this crap once. I can delete or move any of their apps without receiving an update notification or them being rearranged to the 1st app page after a reboot. It's the only thing they do right.

Thanks for that. I just gave my unlocked Z10 to a friend who's switching from an iPhone 4S. I put it in the Utilities folder I created and it popped back out when I rebooted. Now I know why, lol.

I never tried it, but what if instead of putting into a folder, you put it in a page by itself... at the end of all icons?

It does the same thing. This topic has been discussed extensively in the past. There's no real "solution" to this "problem".

This is a common feature on Australian providers SIM cards. The reason it cannot be deleted is because the program is on the sim card, not the device. It isn't even 'pushed' by the network and it will even appear as a menu option on an old Nokia 5110.

Telstra have the same thing, it's called 'PocketNews' and it has been on every phone I've owned since 1998. It used to be the only way to check things like weather, sports scores and news headlines - it would work by sending an SMS to the network with a code on it that would trigger a reply SMS to the user containing all 160 characters of a news article.

I have no idea why network operators still feature these services on their SIM and the PocketNews service is still as primitive and as expensive as it was in 1996.
