My camera is set to write to the SD card camera folder.
I moved a bunch of photos from there to another folder using an android file manager.

The bb10 photos app and native file manager still show the moved photos in the old location (as well as the new one.). They must be showing the results of a cache because I cannot open the moved files and no other apps show them in the old location.

Does anyone know how to reset the photos cache?

The only thing I can think is to pull the card, back it up, reformat, let the phone index the blank card, and copy everything back to it, but I'd rather not go through all that.

The first thing to try is to remove the card, reboot your device, then reinsert the card. It will be recognized and the thumb cache should be rebuilt. Sometimes even a reboot will do it on its own.

A plain reboot hasn't worked. I'll try without the card, and then insert the card before I head down the backup/reformat route. Thank you.

It worked. I removed the card. Rebooted the phone with no card, then reinserted the card. The camera directory was reindexed.

Next time, use the BB10 file manager to move things on the BB10 device!

I would've used the BB file manager except it doesn't have a select all option and I was moving all photos from "camera" to another directory. The native file manager wouldn't let me rename or move the "camera" directory either, not even when I had switched the camera back to saving on internal memory rather than the SD card.
