Hello guys, I have a Z10 mobile with OS 10.2.1.3062..

I need to set the default apps for opening files (like PDF files and video files)
When I open settings>app manager>default apps, I get this message:

"You have no default apps set. To set default app for specific content or file type, touch and hold a file or content. Tap Open In and select the app you want to set as the default app for that content or file type."

but when I open the file manager and head to any file, touch and hold, I don't find any 'Open In'!!
for PDF files I see 'open in adobe reader' instead of it, but even when I choose it, the files open in adobe reader this time only and the adobe app does not become the default app. also for other files -like videos- I can't find that 'Open In' or anything like it!!

Another question: Can any video be played in the background with the embedded blackberry video player?

    Thanks in advance

Q10SQN100-3/10.2.1.3442 here, same version as yours. If you use the BlackBerry File Manager, here what's you have :
Hot to set default apps in Z10?-img_20150124_214721.png
So just select "Open In" as you said and then if you want to define a default app, don't forget to tick the "Set as default app" box at the top :

And yes, BlackBerry video player can play video in the background. Your browser can do that too by the way if you open a YouTube video for example.

If you don't see the app you want in the list, that means that this app didn't register with BB10... probably the case for all Android applications installed via Snap or any other Android store

Thank you, but like I said I don't have this option 'Open In':
Hot to set default apps in Z10?-img_20150124_232309.png
and BTW, I have 'docs to go' also!!

I also have a video player installed that is built for blackberry 'NuttyPlayer'

Now, according to playing videos in the background: when I open a video from the filemanager and minimize it (or hit 'back), it stops playing

    Thanks again for your concern

The "open in" option is only available if there's more than one app that can perform the same function.

Exactly. You may have an app that is enabled to open these files, but if the app didn't register with the OS... no go. You have to first open the app and then the file.
