Here is a Facebook Workaround & Has Hub Integration

I haven't seen this anywhere, so if there's a double post apologies in advance.

There is an APK for 'Facebook Lite' which will give you everything in one app, including messages. It sends notifications to the Hub, is skinny at under 1MB and is a 'powered down' version of the full app for less battery drain.

I'm using this one from APK Mirror: Facebook Lite APKs - APKMirror

Unlike the full Facebook app, this one works with the very latest version. Everything in one app without the need for messenger, small app, low power, has hub notifications and works with the latest version? I don't think it's going to be any better than this for us BB10 users.

The latest reviews are a little hit and miss. Think as long as FaceBook allows these non-approved usages of their API, FACE10 might give users a better experience.

Another alternative is "Face Slim" from the F-Droid appstore. Both work fine on my Q5 and there is basic hub integration.

As I came to know they deleted Hub integration from official BlackBerry facebook app, I immediately restored Face 10. As long as it still works, there is no problem

Swipe from the left inside the app and go into the settings. You can enable message notifications there. These show up in the hub.

Seems like the latest version also supports general notifications, e.g. comments. Hadn't even noticed that feature. I'll test that :)

I did. The first day it was available in fact. That doesn't mean people aren't on the lookout for something better or just as an alternative to it.

What I find nice about Facebook lite is the data usage counter. That's a very nice feature.

The data use counter is great. Look how small these numbers are, and this account has been synching data all day with messages and feed notifications:

This is an official app made by Facebook, also Facebook does provide a public API(with the caveat that it doesn't provide access to messages or any of the chat functionality).

I can vouch for Facebook Lite as I use it in my android phone, it's a good app.

Facebook's API docs, it doesn't seem it misses anything to build a full-fledged facebook client(other than message as previously stated)

It isn't there anymore. The beta program has since expired.

There is the free version of it which lets you try it with full l usability for a limited number of days along with the pro version of Face10 in BBW.

I've enabled all notifications in the "Face Slim" settings and i can confirm that it pushes messages, likes and comments to your hub. Basically everything you would see in the notifications within Facebook itself.

You have to tap on the notification to actually see what it is, but that's very good for an Android app just under 1MB.
