    Background

I'm switching from AT&T to Straight Talk with an AT&T SIM. I have voice, but no data because, unlike with a T-Mobile SIM card, I can't set a custom APN number in the settings. In another thread, people on CrackBerry have helpfully noted that the APN can be set in the engineering screen. CrackBerry has posted a tutorial on how to access the engineering screen using http://escreen and a keygen. This did not work for me. Additionally, I tried an app called ES X, which did not provide access to the engineering screen, either. In both cases, I typed the code with no response.

Note: It probably doesn't matter, but the phone is a factory unlocked Z10 LE.

    Questions

Is there a new keygen or a new way of accessing the engineering screen?

Is there another way of changing the APN (other than in the settings app, which is ghosted?). If so, how?

Has anyone else changed their API on a 10.2 leak and, if so, which one?

    Thanks in advance!

You may have the format wrong?

Enter into the url address bar:

    escreen://

I don't have 10.2 so I don't know if the format I show is still working but I would imagine it is.

That's exactly right. Type escreen:// into the browser.

Also, if you want an app for it, http://forums.crackberry.com/blackbe...v-mode-825489/

Thanks to both of you. I don't have an issue getting into escreen://, it's getting past the initial information page and into the engineering settings that is throwing me for a loop. The apps and keygens are giving me codes that don't work.

Scrid2000, have you tried with 10.2?

I've found on 10.2, the escreens page has been "broken" for Verizon users to open mobile hotspot functionality, so perhaps the same issue is taking place here? I've never tried to alter the APN though so I'm not entirely sure.

Anyway, if you know how to sideload, you can try installing this older escreens bar on your device (note: you might want to secure an updated version just in case it causes issues elsewhere).

To ensure that I get the best keygen results, I open the webpage CB provided on my desktop so that it's easy to quickly input it into my phone as soon as I'm done. Try that (if you weren't already) to see if it helps.

    Good luck!

Edit: saw that your primary concern is unlocking the advanced menu screen, in that case disregard most of my post and just look at the paragraph after the link.

Are you entering your pin using lowercase letters?

I just unlocked mine in Z10STL100-3/10.2.0.1047.

Thanks, all! Scrid, I wasn't capitalizing the letters in my PIN, but I was capitalizing them in the unlock sequence, which made sense because they were written in caps by the keygen. Anyway, after reading your response, I was inspired to try the unlock code without capitalizing anything... and I was in. Note: I may have just been mistyping over and over again before, but I think the caps might have been the problem. NOW...

My problem is that I can't edit or change any of the settings in the escreen. This includes the APN. I've tried tapping in fields and pulling up the keyboard with a two-finger swipe, but nothing I type is entered in the fields. What am I doing wrong?

APN settings must not be available in the OS you're running.

Would replacing the escreens bar help him, or does it extend further into the OS than that?

I don't know. My guess it's deep in the OS.
