Once the BlackBerry OS10.3.3 (finally)rolls out, will the update kill some if not all apps on the BlackBerry World?

Not really. There are no new API changes in 10.3.3 so pretty much every app that remains working now should largely continue working.

If so, then why did they release 10.3.3 for devs recently to test their apps if we already know that apps won't stop working?

I'm hungrily waiting for the 10.3.3....as a solution to the problem of not getting any Bluetooth received file on my Z30.

There won't be any updates to the Android Runtime in BB10, ever.

Because their apps should not stop working. If they do, it's a bug that they need to fix.

In the "old" BBOS day... just about every update broke apps.

With BB10, there are apps from launch day that have never been updated and they have worked right on through all the updates we have had so far. But there have been changes (liking opening API for some hardware control) that some developers took advantage of to improve their apps.

But yes there really wasn't much of a reason for the developer version for 10.3.3... maybe they hoped to get some feed back? On the parts that included in that release.... have to wonder how many developers bothered. Twenty maybe?

As an example, WhatsApp doesn't work on 10.3.3. This is a bug in the OS that is now getting fixed.

But WhatsApp said they would fix it after 10.3.3 is rolled out to everybody, so they're not using the dev version.

Actually the problem is on BlackBerry's end, and BlackBerry will fix it before 10.3.3 goes official.

My point was that there is value to putting out an early DEV version. They may not have caught something like this otherwise.

Never understood how "leaks" could destroy BlackBerry. We are talking about a company that they themselves release info on devices that won't see the light of day for months.

But yeah looking back I wish that BlackBerry had controlled the leaks...... My 30 days was almost up and I was just about to return my Z10 (had already talked with both Verizon and BlackBerry support - they acted like they didn't know about it - but Verizon was going to replace it and wave the restocking) when I finally installed a leaked OS that fixed my rebooting issue. If not of leaks I would have spent the last three years with an HTC M8...

I think these beta programs or soak test that most manufactures do with Android (including BlackBerry) are VERY SMART. Never understood whey BlackBerry never did that... but then maybe they did, just not officially.

I'm on AT&T. If it weren't for leaks, I'd still be on year-old OS builds.

BTW, the current "official" OS for their BB10 phones is almost a year old now.

The few people like me at work all moved to Android. Must say why does have Android still a home and return button. Using the Sony Z3+ for several week now and if BlackBerry ever upgrade the Android runtime I'will be back

BB10 is much better to use than Android but at least with Android 6 business apps working now still gone update my Passport
