I've tried plenty of OS's ranging from 10.1-10.2 on my Q10 and this bug has happened on every version.

Mind you I've went through 4 Q10's and this is not hardware related either.

The bug: When you press the top lock button, the screen shuts off (cause it locked the phone), but when you press the number keys(0-9) it'll open the search straight up instead of showing the lock screen.

Anyone else experienced this? I would say it rarely happens but its happened enough times (over 20) to atleast mention it

Just tried: nope. Though it does wake the screen it neither unlocks nor goes to search, just the lock screen

Yeah its not really a bug that you can test and give me an answer straight away. Its more of a over time thing..

Is there a setting on Q10 that allows that to happen? You mentioned you have had four Q's were they replaced for this reason?

I don't have a Q so unable to check.

Have tried it many times and at different times. Just opens a locked screen when the numeric pad is clicked anywhere. Requires gesture to unlock. No search screen ever appeared. Will keep trying!

Same as others. Just wakes the lock screen but stays locked. Weird that the numbers key do that and not the others. Good fine, because it's a way to see the time when locked. Pushing the top button isn't always so convenient.

I wonder if it is the service providers own boat water causing the issue, though I'm not sure how it would. Just tossing ideas out there.

This used to happen on my bosses Q. He asked my how the hell to stop it. I couldn't get it to stop so I made a lame excuse that it was a shortcut if he had a numeric password enabled. He hasn't mentioned it since so it might have been fixed in a software update. Will confirm Monday or I will try it on my mom's.

I press a button to just wake the screen all the time to see if any messages or appointments, never had it start a search

I just managed to do it, though a small screen *TAP at the very bottom of the screen is what invoked the search screen to appear, this is what i did to make it happen;

1. Navigate to main active frames screen
2. Lock screen with top lock button
3. Smash keyboard all over
4. *repeatedly tap bottom of screen (this should open search)
5. Swipe up to unlock (do this if search does not open)
6. REPEAT

First time i tapped the screen was an accident as i was moving my thumb around hitting buttons, i am managing to make it happen almost every time now using a quick double tapping motion on the very bottom of the screen.

There seems to be a correlation between the time you lock the screen to when you start hitting keys, and swiping up and unlocking the phone to restart the test seems to be a must. I have managed to get the search to pop up without tapping the screen if i start hitting keys IMMEDIATELY after i lock the phone.

Im on rogers network in canada running official 10.1.0.4181

Isn't it the case that the numbers wake up the screen so an emergency call can be made quickly?
