I am glad I am not the only one who doesn't like the new 10.3.1 calendar. There are many threads with people complaining about it. I hope BlackBerry listens to the complains and does something about it (of course, after firing the current Designer and Project Manager in charge of the 10.3.1 Calendar UI)! :-)

No no, just kidding, no firing. Just change the UI back to 10.2.1, but keep the new feature which allows adding the Remember tasks right from within the Calendar!

Passport is my first Blackberry since 2010, so I'm not sure what the 10.2 calendar was like. What I miss from the Android calendar was being able to look at the month view and see the actual activity name instead of just colored dots. I could plan out the whole month without having to open each day to see what the activity is.

Generally I use the week view. I like those indicators on top. What I hate about the new calendar are the pop-ups. On workdays I have always a couple of pop-ups to dismiss. How to set up coworkers calendars for me not being notified?

The month view in 10.2.1 was better. It also seems to take much longer to render. Swipe down 2 months quickly, and 5-10 second to add all the little dots.

What I don't understand is why did they change it? Was there some outcry from the public saying that the calendar needed to be changed? This new one is an abomination.

My feeling is that 10.2 Calendar us more useful or functional in terms of the month view.

That said, I found it very ugly and overwhelming to look at when I got my Z30. My initial impressions were that BlackBerry had to do something about if or newbies were going to be irritated by the busy look.

So from that perspective, I think 10.3 calendar addresses the needs of a novice user or perhaps an older clientele.

The 10.3 look is clean and orderly like Apple would have likely designed a product. First principles of design should include simplicity.

Ideally, there would be the option to turn on the side bar and growing numbers. Not an either or solution.

Does 10.3 have an Agenda View iin the calendar ? I like that and I'm hoping 10.3 will still have it. I'm still on 10.2 with Verizon (waiting for the release).

I have no idea who said it needed to be changed from what it was. but I'm seriously hoping they take out the god awful shapes add back the lines and put back the growing numbers. leave the new functionality but add back the look of 10.2.1

please tell me you're being sarcastic. I cant understand what these shapes mean. at least in 10.2.1 the line took up a lot less space and I got an idea of the time of day an event took place depending on the line placement.

these damn shapes tell me NOTHING!

*sob* I actually use my calendar frequently. this is just going to be a pain :'(
