I do not know what the problem is but on every version of BB10 thus far including 10.3.0.1052 responding to group texts has resulted in each person in the group text receiving a text from me which does not associate itself with the group text. It therefore eliminates any chance of a coherent thread like conversation. Other phones do this properly and BB10 handles receiving such messages properly but it just cannot send them properly. Tested this with a few friends on different carriers with Q10s. Same result

Edit: It does send correctly if you are the one who started a "broadcast" conversation. Never works for anyone who was a recipient. No toggle no nothing.

I have but they all refer to some toggle which "enables" group messaging. I don't have this toggle anywhere. Could it be related to my carrier (T-Mobile)

Interesting, I find group text works better on my z10 then any iPhone or Android I have used.

I really like how on BB10 you can name a group text. I have a group text named "FIFA" for my FIFA buddies.

Have you backed up your device and tried a factory reset?

I know it is a pain, but it might fix whatever got messed up. Mine has worked fine out of the box.

I found it didn't always work for me on ios7 even amongst iPhone users. A reply to my group text would often come to me alone. I think it had to do with whether the others were using sms or text or I message. Not sure really.

But it seems BlackBerry isn't alone with this.

If you can use BBM, do it. It really is an incredible message app. Most useful software for communication, bar none. Wish more of my friends would use it.

I have this same issue, got laughed at by my iPhone (so called) friends.. not cool! Everyone thought I was side texting them outside the chat. Really annoying!

Hopefully this gets fixed...

OP, if u are on T-Mobile then u definitely can make it work, but it's a chore

In the Hub:

Settings > text messages > advanced > then set it to send text messages as MMS. Don't forget to save it after.

When u are done u have to change it back to send as a SMS. Hope this really is fixed in 10.3 cause its annoying

I think this is the toggle option some people were talking about.

My advanced option is set to automatic. I'm on Verizon. Running 10.2.1. No problems.

I just enable group chat when I want to by checking the box. It automatically comes up for me if I enter more than one person in the compose field.

Exactly. I have that on mine on 10.2.1. I just assumed bb10 had that on all of them. I never use the check box. I send group texts for work. I get annoyed when my iPhone using coworkers send out group texts because it then automatically becomes a group chat.

Are your advanced settings set to automatic or MMS? Hub > settings > text messages > advanced (on black bar on bottom).

Yup...for t-mobile users....or at least me, it doesn't appear. we have to set it to MMS every time we want to do a group estate or else it sends the response only to the original person who sent the message

Same issue. Frustrating! I'm Tmobile as well and don't have the "enable group conversation" box.

I just updated to ClassicSQC100-4/10.3.1.2558 and notice that the toggle is now on T-Mobile. No more doing the SMS/MMS switch that wasn't intuitive. Now it will detect if you're messaging in a group and give you the toggle like it does on Verizon and AT&T. I nagged @blackberryhelp and @tmobile recently about this on Twitter so I wonder if they actually listened and implemented it.

This saves so much confusion with friends.
