One of the features that I absolutely loved on my previous BlackBerry devices was group texting. Having the ability to create a group like "Sales Dept.", add in 15-20 people and then being able to blast out messages to all of them simply by composing a new text message and adding "Sales Dept." as the recipient.

Is this feature still present on BlackBerry 10?? Can someone with the device confirm?

I have the same question, Used to be able to text a group for poker. I have the z10 right now but I can't find a way to do it without manually adding people every time.

I have the Z10, and have the same issue not being able to create groups. I have been told it can be done within the "HUB" but at the moment can only seem to be able to group BBM contacts and not general SMS contacts.

I've been trying to keep in contact with my whattsapp friends using text messaging.

In text mode it allows you to add contacts and 'enable group chat' but when my friends reply all the replies come back as separate texts, not as a group chat!! :

This is a serious shortfall of the OS. I need the ability to group contacts, for group emails or group txt. This should be a simple OS modification? or has someone figured out how to do it yet?

I wouldn't say "serious shortfall". That's a very poor choice of words. Because what you are saying by that is that the os would never have the capabilities to do such things. And if it can't now, I'm sure it will in the future considering I can do it on my playbook. So with an update it will be able to do it. the os can handle it.

It's pretty damn serious if you're used to having it. Why would a phone focused at business type users leave out the ability to send out group messages?

one of the best thing about having a bb930 was the ability to have a group contact, and send mass text, very important , please show us how to add group, if not present, please resolve with an update before it hits the u.s., i have at least 32 of my friends looking to get the z10 just to be able to group text, the gs3 does group, but the iPhone doesn't , i believe the wp8 does group also ,please bb keep the group text on bbz10

If your friends do get the Z10, then you'll be better to create a BBM group. Much more available than just sending sms.

And when the group chat participants reply, it arrives as a separate single text not within the group text for everyone to see.

The iPhone doesn't group text in the native app...have to use a third party app unfortunately.

It can be done if you are sending a tect message, when you press send I believe it will ask you if you want to have it as group chat.

I responded to a group text yesterday and everyone received it. I guess there are mixed results for group texting.
