yeah, i've just realised this as well. my dad is a heavy texter and he sends hundreds of group texts everyday, and i've just noticed that there is no group text available for BB10 on the Z10. BBRY you got to work this out!!! i'll send a tweet to @blackberry, please do send yours too for their attention. they need to act quick before the BB 10.1 rolls out.
I can't replicate what you did, especially with the "enable group chat" option. how did you get that?
Guys, group texting (or group MMS) is CARRIER-DEPENDENT regardless of the device. Obviously this excludes iMessage, BBM, etc. I can't speak for other countries / carriers but in the US I know from experience that it is supported on AT&T and Verizon but NOT T-Mobile and Sprint, at least at the moment.
So, long story short: if you don't see the "enable group chat" check box as shown on the first page of this thread, your carrier doesn't support it.
Long story short... group texting using sms or mms is not a reliable substitute for a solid IM app like BBM, Whatsapp, Kik, etc. It's why they were invented.

I have an EE contract with unlimited texts but mms are chargeable.
My texts to multiple recipient's are bring sent as MMS!!

i agree, a simple group texting feature disappeared. features are added not reduced.
Just so everyone is in the clear, I am not referring to "Group Chat" where everyone can send a message and the entire group gets a copy of each message.
What I'm referring might be better known as mass texting. The previous BlackBerry OS allowed you to create large groups of contacts and save them in your contact list. So that in the future you could always just select that group to send a text or email.
Maybe I should make a video to better explain...

I can't find a way to create groups in the Contacts app. I hope BlackBerry (or a 3rd party app) adds that. However, TXTing to groups is not a problem as long as your carrier supports it. As was shown in this tread, add multiple contacts in the TXT and, if your carrier permits it, check the group chat box. You can also name the TXT if you want. Then, just keep that TXT thread in the Hub and you can send to that group anytime you want. It just means you are creating the group in Hub instead of Contacts. No big deal!
Sending a TXT to multiple recipients (bulk) is supported for any carrier. Holding group TXT conversations is carrier dependent.
Contact Groups had been lost in OS10 which is a feature that absolutely must return in future OS releases. It's one of the most requested in feature request / future improvement threads.

You can still have group chats add all the people you want to your chat enable group chat and name the chat...... end of story....
Umm... sorry but it's not the end of the story for many. Where do you see this "Enable group Chat" option??

This might be a bit of a workaround:
Create new contact (ex: sales dep)
Duplicate contacts that you want to add to group.
Link duplicate contacts to "Sales dep"
Compose text to Sales Dep.
I haven't tried this out so I'm not sure it would work. Just throwing it out there as a possible option.

Same here, I even have a thread about it. I am with ATT on a 9810 and can only send a text to 10 people at a time. The times we are in now- we should be able to mass text our phonebook quickly and efficiently. Would be a great feature to have. Not a deal breaker for me but setting up like 10 groups of 10 is beyond annoying.
I agree. Not a deal breaker but would be nice to have.

THE WILL HELP YOU
I found a link you
Thank you. I just am not sure (yet) how many I can include in one text . . . I'm still guessing ten on ATT
Darrell, thanks for posting that bid about the group messaging.
What we need though is group contacts to send bulk messages.
I play in a kickball league for fun and drinking and socializing.. and my team has a group chat.. we use groupme, which i have sideloaded on my z10.. i receive my messages in the form of a group text.. I never have to open the app.. as its saved as a group text... that is in alternative to the group texting that is available standard on the z10
Yes you can make a group message, here are pictures on how.

And that is how it works folks...add 2 names (or more) then check the box, the first time you do it that box pops up in picture 2 click never show again and you are good to go.

Just make sure mms are part of your plan they are often not on blackberry UK accounts. Like mentioned that's why WhatsApp is so popular.

that isn't what they are asking... you posted pictures of group conversations. What everyone here wants is to do group texting (as in being able to set of groups to do a bulk message)
ATT has a 10 person limit when composing a text. I confirmed it today and cannot text more than that at one time. ;;;Kanye shrug;;;
