There could be physical problems, but unless you dropped it or got it wet it is unlikely the problem. There could also be issues with the update. My experience has been that the GPS performance has always improved with each new release. You can try reloading the OS or downgrading to an older release, but in my experience the most common problem is getting the correlators locked in on a cold start. Having a poor view of the sky or moving can hamper this. Moving is an issue because satellites can be obscured by buildings as you pass through an urban area. Each time this happens the correlation has to restart.
Most locations in cars are not good places for initial synchronisation of GPS either.

What you do with Wi-Fi or Bluetooth is irrelevant to GPS. Wi-Fi frequencies are 2.5 GHz and 5 GHz, Bluetooth is 2.5 GHz. GPS is 1.2 GHz and GLONAS is 1.6 GHz.
All of these systems use spread spectrum techniques which reduces interference if they are on the same frequencies.

We (hubby then I have used this z30) have never been able to get the GPS to work since updating from 10.2.1.xxx
Very frustrating when you want to track a workout length!

If you have tried everything I've suggested above, you may want to reload the OS, or downgrade to 10.2.

I have done reloads and leaks so I will probably downgrade this week. Frustrating!

No solution on this???
Did you try my other suggestions? Every time you wipe the device or install an OS you put the GPS back to cold start mode.

I tried every suggestion listed in this thread and nothing. Z30STA100-5/10.3.1.2708.

I have tried it all and still nothing. Even loaded 10.3.2 didn't help with the gps problem

Unless you are prepared to do something like this we can only speculate on what the problem might be.

Here is a pic of hello gps running for about 15 to 20 mins in clear skies

So a suburban setting and no signals at all. There are three possible causes: the GPS receiver circuitry has been damaged; the phone was inside of, or surrounded by buildings; it is going to take longer than 20 minutes.

Is it the OS version or Software release?

I'd like to know if anyone has had any joy degrading to 10.2? Never had a problem in that version.

There are lots of threads around about downgrading the OS. I've done it on my development units by just installing the autoloader of the version I wanted. Just make sure you get the right one for your hardware and save your important data. A backup will probably not work going backwards in OS versions so you'll have to do that using other methods.

** Possible Solution *** I was getting really fed up with the GPS not working on my Z30, but I seem to have found the culprit. The offending app in my case was Waze. I have found that closing Waze via the "power button" in the menu pop-up (rather than just minimizing the app and closing it) doesn't break the GPS for other apps.
If you're having GPS issues and do use Waze, give that a try. It's been a few weeks now and I haven't encountered an issue.
