The great thing about BeMaps is it gives you the main benefits of Google Maps: best in class POI search, street view, and non-driving directions, but it also spawns BB Maps for navigation. I've found that BB Maps often has better routing, so the combination of the two is ideal.

I did try this version of Google Maps, just to see how it would run, and had no problems with it on STL100-3 /.1047, for what it's worth as a data point. But I uninstalled because I just don't need it.

I thought I would miss Google Maps from my BBOS7 device.

Hasn't happened yet. BlackBerry Maps has been great despite the bells and whistles that Google Maps had. It's helped me to where I needed to go 100% of the time.

If u need to get there, BlackBerry gets it done just as well.
If u want bells and whistles, sure, Google Maps is for you.

    Bells and whistles?

I took a trip to Western Europe and visited four countries. I would look up my next hotel and Google Maps would give me door to door directions to an address in another country. Walk to this stop, take streetcar, get off at HBF, take platform 11, take train cross border, get off and take bus, walk to hotel.

Before arriving in a city, I would download the offline map using the hotel wifi. Together with the free TripAdvisor for the city, I no longer have any need for city maps or guides. Bell or whistle?

It let me find and navigate bike trails near my area which I now use constantly for fitness and leisure. Bell or whistle?

When I plan out complicated routes using GMaps on the desktop, I can save it and retrieve it locally on the phone. When I search for an address on the desktop browser, there will be a navigation card on the phone which I can use without having to re-type or search of the address again.

The phone tells me if there will be a traffic related delays on my way to work or back home. This has saved me a lot of time and frustration.

If anyone else has problems with google maps 7, use google maps 6, they are almost the same. Additionally use this special version with settings working and apparently some other stuff included http://forums.crackberry.com/android...nabled-819130/

As others have done, pulling a Google Maps icon to my desktop works just fine. Opens quickly and functions well, can't imagine an on-board app performing any better.

I am all for supporting devs who bring their app(s) to BB10. However, in this instance, I do not have a data plan that can accommodate the data usage for this app.

I don't like Google maps because they keep having people try and drive up my driveway to get to the other side of town.

Don't care if it is the most direct route, it's MY driveway. Not a public way.

    Rant over.... proceed at will...

Solution: go to Google Map Maker, and mark the road segment of your driveway to Private. After a week or two, you will no longer have people routed down your driveway unless coming to a house on your driveway. Make sure you explain your change well, so that it will be approved.

Funny idea, though that'd be punishing innocent people for Google's mistake.

GPS usually is within 20 m
In some regions, it seems that BBMaps is most accurate. The only upside of Gmaps is that it has public transit, more locations, etc
So walking in a big city Gmaps is better?
