So I've been having this issue with BB10 since the beginning, but figured I'd ask here in case there was a solution. Whenever I perform an action on an email with my Z10 (e.g. read, mark as read, delete, mark as unread, flag, etc.) I noticed that the email client doesn't automatically sync that change with the IMAP server. For example:

    1. I get a new email
    2. I read the email on my Z10
    3. I refresh GMail - email is still marked as unread
    4. I hit "refresh" in the BB10 email client
    5. I refresh GMail - email is now marked as read

Why doesn't the BB10 email client just do this? It is IMAP after all...

it does, just takes time. its not an urgent thing to mark something as read on your gmail if you know you read it on your phone already

Maybe, but It's an image thing. Both Android and iOS push the change immediately, why not BB10? I guess then that there is no way to tell it to push those kind of changes immediately?

The minimum sync time frame for IMAP on BB10 is 5 minutes. It seems about the same on iOS, to me. Android is a different story -- it was built for Gmail.

I guess the real question is whether this can be considered 'an issue'. For all practical purposes, IMAP wasn't designed to have you interacting with your email in two devices simultaneously. If you have the gmail website in front of you, why would you interact with it via the Z10? On the other hand, if you're at least 5 minutes away from your desktop... you won't even notice the sync delay once you do something on your Z10.

I wouldn't lose any sleep over this.
