Because changing every road sign would cost a fortune for no good purpose.

Absolutely right. Imperial works fine and there's no need to change it. Why is the metric system any better just because it's newer.

Well metric is base 10 math which is much easier to deal with.

    Also, well see below.

Countries which use the imperial system.

Good thing some folks weren't around when the world we adopting base 10 Arabic numbers in place of Roman numerals. There's also something called standardisation which saves time and money, makes for a more efficient flow. I guess some just relish being that sore thumb...lol

Really? How have you managed to tell the time all these years? Clearly we need a base 10 system to do so...

The UK is mixed, it's partly imperial, partly metric.

How many inches in a mile? How many square inches or feet in an acre? How accurate can your system be when your smallest unit is an inch?

Metric is used for a reason. It's more accurate, much easier since everything is base 10. When you start doing Engineering calculations for force, momentum, etc then you'll understand.

There are 5280 feet in a mile and 12 inches a foot. Why do I need to be able to do that math in my head and not use a calculator?

How many square centimeters are in a hectare? Is there any reason the average person would need to know that?
