I am not phone savvy so I need some help here. A longtime friend recently died and I want to save the BBM History I am have with him. Will the messages always be there as long as they are on my phone or will they start to self-delete and disappear since I will no longer be messaging him?

Actually, even if they will never disappear, how can I save them to my computer? Yes, I am not too bright when it comes to this stuff. At any rate, I would appreciate some feedback.

    Thx - Jonathan

Copy paste the whole message and email it to your email

When in a BBM chat, you can select the overflow menu at the bottom right and select the icon to send the chat by email. It will attach a text file to an email. You can them send it to yourself, or else.

Sorry for your loss. I would probably do the same thing if I were you. You better do it, since when you change or switch phones, you lose your BBM chats. Even then, I think there a chat length limit.

Thx for the replies. However, when I "email chat"or "copy chat", it only goes back to May 25...and if I manually scroll up, the start date goes to sometime last year.

Is there a way to save the entire string if history from beginning to end?

    I appreciate the feedback...Jonathan

Try turning on " Save chat history" in BBM settings if it's not already done, and retry copying or emailing.

Plus: don't forget to go thru the chat and save any pictures or other files tour friend may have sent you. The text saved and sent via email doesn't include attachments AFAIK.

Sorry bro but you can only save a recent part of your chat history if it's too long by copying it or emailing it to yourself. Currently no way works to save a long chat history except doing it manually.

You can email an entire chat... go to the chat with the contact, click the dots icon/button then "email chat"... hope you're able to save and cherish everything

Very long old chats only save a certain amount by email. Past a certain amount does not get committed to the email.

I'm sad for your loss, but I applaud you for saving the memories.

I'll throw this out to CB. Would it be ridiculous waste of time for OP to contact or tweet BlackBerry to ask if there's anything they could/would do on a one off basis to help? Doesn't cost anything to ask.
