Photon browser works very bad on Passport. There are a lot of touch problems with some links that just don t work. BB10 browser Flash support was so good and really fast ... Blackberry has never market the Flash support of its browser. That was another marketing mistake done...

    3. 10's of thousands of sites still use flash. Municipalities are as slow as an iceberg to change and would not expect their websites to update for many years. People hate to pay taxes to begin with let alone for an agency to redo their website.
Great point, I may have to drop my BB10 phones.

Can anyone suggest which phone is most compatible with the 10's of thousands of municipality sites I frequent?

No mobile platform supports Flash. End of the line.

Flash is useful for BB10. Because of flash, I can access many video sites. If flash disappears in 10.3, there would be no alternative way to access them on BB10.

Everyone calm down! They very likely aren't dropping flash support. It was a developer build that got pushed to the wrong servers and went out to actual AT&T users and not their dev servers.

Also, why would BlackBerry drop Flash on 10.3.1? Or any other sub-release? That seems like to radical a change to me to not be say, 10.4 or something. 10.3.1 to drop Flash? I doubt it. Wait for a final release or comment from BlackBerry and we'll see what actually transpires of these events. Way too many website still use Flash and from a business perspective, it'd be ludicrous to drop Flash when so many business pieces require it (websites, front ends, etc.)

Honestly? It wouldn't be a huge deal to me as most of my multimedia usage aside from music is still on my laptop, but it would definitely be a minus for BlackBerry. (wouldn't affect my choice though, BlackBerry is not something i got swayed to years ago because of 'Flash')

It would suck, I'd be a little disappointed, but most webbrowsers are able to redirect Flash grabs to HTML5 video, and things like JWPlayer, a common web video streaming frame, is one of those types that can adapt.

I completely agree with you, most sites still use it and that's why I don't see BlackBerry dropping one of their niche features!

Just tested my favourite site and work when flash is off but a bad experience because it uses devices player. Devices player have issue with buffer that if you go backward or forward, it will buffer again. Using flash have no buffer issue since it use flash player.

Flash is very useful in BlackBerry browser if you're using desktop mode often.

Some websites limits its function while on mobile mode.
In some situations, we sometimes need to access the full webpage version to do something important. That's the time flash covers the missing function or feature.

Its not always useful, but at least its there to give you a hand whenever you need it.

    Hehehe

Wow - some of you folks are ridiculous. I don't give a flying rat's heiny if anyone doesn't need or use Flash. I do. I use it for work and play. It's not a choice. I don;t care what the entire world wide web will look like in 10 years. Right now - right this second there are ten's of thousands of sites that I use - that use flash. And if one more individual tells me that flash is a security risk I'm going to get really nasty. Flash is a security risk? Really? It's been in BB10 since day 1. Day 1. How many flash infections have been reported, how much patching has BB had to do? Oh that's right NONE! SMH.

2 points are unassailable - BB can not afford to lose any users. Any users. The removal of flash not attract users, it will lose users. And to the "individual" who claimed that having flash hasn't helped BB sales - By that logic - BB should remove the camera and music player. I mean let's be honest, prior to OS5, BB;s did not have these things and had a much larger market share.

Finally to those who claim flash doesn't work well, I don't know what phone you are using. My Z10 and Z30 utilize flash great. Three examples from this week: I missed 2 games on Sunday I wanted to see. I used NFL rewind on Monday morning to watch the compressed games flawlessly from the train. On Tuesday afternoon, I was in a partner's office for a meeting and phone conference, client asked about an assignment provision in a mortgage, I used ACRIS to locate and view the mortgage on the fly - (PS this impressed the crap out of both the associate and partner who decided they should give BB another look). Finally, out shopping yesterday - I needed to check a worksite to see if new docs had been posted. And yes, many worksites require both adobe reader and flash plugins. Like I said previously, the legal industry ( a huge BB purchasing niche) is slow to change. Removal of flash adds another hurdle to my job and removes one of the last few differentiators BB had over competing OSes.

But yeah - let's turn this around on all those sites that utilize flash - don't they know that BB is stopping flash support? How dare they not update their technology to HTML5? Or at least develop a BB app like everyone else...oh yeah.... nevermind.

@1imagine - Loved reading this. I could not have come up with a better practical example.

I'm starting to think that BlackBerry is out to make itself leaner before it's ready to sell. After all, Sybase was sold, wasn't it? It's typical for companies to try to dump whatever contracts, perceptibly undesirable, they may have. Just some food for though
