How to enable ad blocker within the flash browser?

    Posted via CB10
It's just the current stock browser, so it doesn't do much more than what the normal browser does. Afaik, it doesn't do any ad blocking on that I know of yet.

Amazing!.. not that I love flash but there were plenty of complaints about its absence.

Pretty easy to install (at least compared to some of the crazy stuff needed to get Google Play stuff to work).

KermEd, can you do the same with the initial 10.2 calendar that had the growing numbers in the month view, what you did with this Flash Browser?
You'd make another few thousand people go nuts. LOL
I know I'd be the first one to install it!

I've added an alternative download link, which zipped both the library and browser for people with the zip issue.

I've also added the right server mimetype. Should help!

I just installed VLC player from the Amazon store, then on the first time trying to play a flash file set VLC as the default app, now when I hit play it just launches in VLC, plays then I go back to the browser.

Plus VLC is just awesome for all media. Use the hdmi cable and boom, can play anything on tv on monitor from Z10.

    Easier than sideloading anything imo

With respect to ad-blocking, if the dev could use the approach that either Evolution Browser or Alpha Browser uses, that would be awesome! They both have good ad-blocking.

    WHY?!?
Flash is DEAD. Flash must be removed from all websites. This is only agony prolongation .. bad, too bad ...
Only removing flash support from all devices force webmasters to remove it..
Bro get out of here -.-

We're sick of this debate. Flash is dying, yes, but it is far from dead as 95% of the news organizations and major service providers still use it!

BlackBerry Claims that the Browser isn't a Cascades app, I was wondering if doing a clean room implementation will help save you the trouble of the legal stuff? ... that is if all you do is scripting the browser as a big HTML app.

I only have a Linux laptop with Firefox, not with Chrome.
How do I sideload the flashbrowser without Chrome?
I did the rest. I have the bar file in the downloads directory on my passport, the yeah.so file in the plugins directory, but I cannot install the app from Firefox on my Linux laptop.
Can I use Sachesi to find the bar file on my passport and install the app?
The sideloading instruction in the link uses Google Chrome. That is precisely what I am trying to avoid. Using Google software and android!

Actually we are OK here. It isn't a cascades app, but it is webkit, and open source. The licensing that covers the components requires them to make the browser source available to us. So we are OK here. But yes it's fully html5 with QNX backend calls

This makes me curious. Is it possible to make this the default app for opening links without having to long-press and select open-in?

I've got it selected as default whenever I open a link (i.e. in CB10) but the actual link won't autoopen this browser, it always opens the stock Native one without a long-press.
    Here's my default apps:
    Attachment 339674

Here's the default that the browser entails:

    Attachment 339675

I even removed the default one from the list to get that as the ONLY default browser..

That's the interesting thing. When you look at it, it's Webkit supports plugins. More information on this is actually in locked down QNX docs - but there is a bit more our browser can do than what we see for sure. Maybe we can add more plugins

Thanks KermEd!! This is a great achievement and many BlackBerry users will highly appreciate this can't wait to see what "more" our browser can do! Thanks again, this patch of sorts has worked awesomely so far!!

You could also use sideswype or sideswipe.it. It's a very ugly, very early beta. Consider us all as the first beta tester wave for the app

The next stage is to open up Flash to native cascades browsers using the lessons learned from the 10.3.0 package. As well as seeing if AIR apps can actually be repackaged now using the AIR runtime SO.

In the meantime the following are on the radar:
    - Get the library to be handled in the app install
    - Determine if it is eligible for inclusion in BlackBerry World
    - Check other QNX Webview plugins for compatibility (i.e. Allow more plugins)
    - Merge in some 10.3.1 changes (mentioned in a post above)
    - Move package to github for community work
    - Add a dropdown for user agents
    - Cleanup a bunch of the code. I see functions that could use improvements.

*** Right now these are all pipe dream initiatives. But they are captivating for me.

The high level goal, for me anyways, is to absolutely minimize the number of Android apps I need to rely on .

We might be able to change it in Settings -> Default apps. But I haven't tested it and it would probably be displayed as the old browser name and icon still (bug I need to fix)
