    Hello There!
My system got out of control in size. I found this thread, run throug all the suggestions but besides Cclean finding 50 empty folders and 300Mb to clean, my greatest achievement was when the Amazon store said 'not enough space to install Cache tool'. So I might need your help. Thank you!

    How is that possible?

Looks like a security wipe is all one can do. CCleaner didn't work for me. 8 gigs for my system and no way to clean it. This seems to enough of an issue that one would think BB would have a fix. Even having no way to clean app caches is silly and not a good reflection on BB.

Cannot explain how frustrated i was.. Had finally given up on that ever increasing system storage! I had been trying to get something useful over the past one year and now Finally, when I had almost given up, I found a link to this post and thankfully I did not look over it thinking of this as another crap post! Damn 5.5 GIGS of thumbnails are now gone! Thank you man thanks a ton!

I think CCleaner is a hit or miss. It's worked for me before. But here I am, faced with the same issue and it's failing to do the job. It's as frustrating as it seems.

I just came across this thread b/c I was tired of getting the device full messages on my Z10. I was able to clear over 1.5 gigs which were mostly thumbnails. I'm using version 1.0.7141.1557.

Does anyone know why SNAP is such a large app? Mine is almost 600 megs.

Is there no solution for this problem yet? I've got two clients with the same problem. One is a Classic and the other is a Z30.

Here is what the Classic looks like.FIX for BB10 High "System" disk usage-sheryl-bb-full.png

System should take around 2.6GB. The only to reduce your system storage that I know is to wipe your phone or reload the OS but don't restore from Link backup. You have to reinstall all you apps. You can backup your user data (documents, photos, Remember etc. ) using Ultimate Backup or another such apps. You should also export your Password Keeper data somewhere (SD, USB, cloud).

Normally, but not exclusively, this problem arises after a large software update:

    Attachment 351277

"System" should not take up so much disk space.

I have stumbled upon a solution which fixes this problem WITHOUT doing a security wipe.

Download and install CCLEANER from SNAP or Google Play Store. I use this program on my windows PC and it is excellent. The developer "Piriform" makes excellent high quality utility programs.

Hit Analyze and after a few minutes (be patient) you will see something like this:

    Attachment 351279

Notice how "other caches" is a whopping 3.5 GIGS and apparently its nothing but a "thumbnail cache"

Tick on what you'd like deleted.

I tend to keep my apks on my external media card but these are the ones stored in your device memory so im going to delete that and also delete empty folders.

    Hit 'CLEAN'

    Attachment 351280

    I saved over 4.2 gigs.

Enjoy your squeaky clean phone and improved performance.

EDIT: If you happen to be one of the lucky people who randomly get instagram push notifications to the hub. You may lose them after doing this as I did. So beware.

    Hi Everyone!,

Well, since two weeks ago, I've been having this kind of issue. Suddenly, I had only 239 MB of free space in my main system storage. I have a BlackBerry Z30 STA100-5 factory unlocked with BB10 10.3.3.3216 OS version/10.3.3.2137 software version. It was strange to me, because I only use Telegram and WhatsApp APK versions. I don't use Facebook or Instagram on my smarthpone. Also, I often keep my photos, documents, mp3, ogg, videos and apks on my external media (I have a 16 GB Kingston MicroSD class 4)

So, I followed this instructions: I installed Ccleaner (I downloaded it from Apkmirror), I Analyzed my smartphone and after a long minutes it reported to me that "thumbnail cache" had 7 GB !. So I procceded to clean it and after restart my smartphone, I recovered 8 GB of free space!...

FIX for BB10 High "System" disk usage-storage.jpg

It worked for me!... @The Big Picture, really you've saved me!!!!

Many many thanks of all my heart !!!
    Regards!

This is an old, very old issue that never got fixed. The OS keeps growing and the only way to fix it is to wipe the device clean and start over.

I have installed android version of instagram 10.3.2 on my Q5 today, and after unsuccessful trying to use the application at the same time with android tablet instagram, I have decided to uninstall instagram, but suddenly my memory today end up to 320 mb free space. And after installing ccleaner, it found 1 gb of the thumbnails, and now I have again the working device

Thanks very much for this solution.

I was nearly desperate, because I couldn't even save any photo or launch facebook app, or some other job, because of low space problem.

I found my amazing store app was using 2gb of space in cache, after clearing that I gained all that space back. And I barely use that app
