as i said, i installed the plus version, it gave the option to restore but as it installed side by side with the old whatsapp i chose a clean install and it worked, not sure if the restore function will work but you can do a backup and try, can't hurt

Anyone who is prepared to be violated by WhatsApp, probably wouldn't care too much even if it was a little iffy - which in this case it isn't. Frankly, it's this or nothing for using WhatsApp on BB10.

Only if you've created an Android backup from the native WhatsApp client before it stopped working. If not the best you can do is email export or an unencrypted database export (neither can be imported on Android),

i have backups that the old whatsapp was creating daily, before it completly died today. all sitting in the misc/whatsapp/backup folder. whatsapp plus did not recognize them even after i renamed 1, following this link: https://faq.whatsapp.com/en/android/20887921/
