I have finally figured out a solution for WhatsApp for BB10 OS after its discontinuation. i,e after Dec 2016.
    Step by step explanation :

    1. Install android latest version from Google play store. You can do everything with this version except sending Media and files. But.....
    2. Install Opera browser (not Opera mini) again from Google play store.
    3. Start Opera browser in desktop mode, type in web.whatsapp.com. You will come up with familiar QR code.
    4. Open android whatsApp application already installed, open WhatsApp Web to scan the QR code.
    5. On Opera browser immediately take picture of the QR code with another Mobile device, it should be quick because the QR code keeps on changing after few seconds.
    6. Now in WhatsApp application scan the QR code from the picture of the second Mobile device.
    7. If you are quick and everything goes OK then WhatsApp Web will start on your Opera browser.
    8. Now you can send Media and files through WhatsApp Web on same mobile device.
    9. You can use the WhatsApp application for all other tasks including calls.
    10. And for the Media and files you can use the WhatsApp Web on your Opera browser.
    11. Keep the android whatsApp application open or minimized to use the WhatsApp Web in Opera browser.

That's it. I hope you will enjoy your BB10 device more than ever.
Finally, Solution for WhatsApp for BB10 OS after December 2016.-img_20160705_043926.png

No, as long as you don't clear the browsing history and don't clear the cookies it will open at the same page.

    You just won the Internets.

This alone might keep a whole wave of BB10 users from jumping ship.

Good news. Great work. A little clumsy but still better than not having WhatsApp come Dec 31. "A" for your effort and sharing.

Yes little clumsy, but it can be overcome if you enable data savings mode in Opera browser. Moreover it works better in landscape mode.

Just buy supported device.. The android version won't work on bb10 after 31 December, the whatsapp server will detect it

@ Usman, Maybe the android version will not work after the deadline, but hopefully we will find another solution too. My Z30 is still like brand new, don't want to change it just for the WhatsApp. Hopefully I will use it till it stops working. Besides we all know what bb10 OS is. A bb10 user will find it hard to get used to any other OS.

Usman, that would be device-based selective limiting on an app running on an Android virtual machine, and ethically questionable if done. That is, WhatsApp filtering out BlackBerry devices running BB10 (everything but the Priv) from using their services based on the html metadata. Of course, they can do whatever they want lol - they are a private enterprise and owe you diddly squat. It's after all only your data they are after.

No harder than it was to get use to moving from BBOS to BB10. I'd say two weeks of use is all it will take, especially when most apps are going to work just the same as they did on BB10. It's really only the UI that is different... and the HUB.

As for WhatsApp... no one really knows for sure what will happen at the end of the year. Heck you may drop your phone tomorrow and have to replace it... why worry about five months from now?

I don't understand this. It seems to me that it's a must to have Whatsapp android running on my phone and if I can get Whatsapp android to work on my phone, why would I still bother opening Web Whatsapp?

You need the web interface to be able to send pictures to your friends. That part doesn't work in the android app when running on BB10.

I like this solution, and I actually think it could continue to work after Dec 31. Nice job!

I thought we have much bigger problems, such as older versions of android whatsapp that may not be able to connect at all.

Are we able to install the latest version of Android Whatsapp?

Well done. I will try and give this a shot perhaps this weekend.

Does it require that we uninstall the current BB10 version?

No, it doesn't require to Uninstal the BB10 version. They can work simultaneously, but since WhatsApp works only with one Sim connection then you have to use one at a time or use one sim to activate the android and then remove it. Then you can have two whatsapp connections on your phone.

OK. That's a solution. But definitely not one that is suitable to do every day and every time I want to send a picture!

Yup. No one I know uses it either (Canada as well), or at least they've never asked to communicate on WhatsApp. Most younglings I know seem to use SnapChat and Instagram, and then of course there's Facebook messenger.
