Where is HOWhatsapp2 from? Do you have a folder in device/misc/android called WhatsApp?

Invictus0, I'm progressing but not out of the wood yet.
Actually, I had not installed the WA for android version as mentioned.
So, now I have removed the Nemory solution and also the HOWhatsapp2 folder.
I have still the folder whatsapp under device/misc which is linked to the "old" WA which I was using (2.16.76).
I have downloaded the WA for android (1.0.45.1857) and I HAVE also the Device/misc/android/WhatsApp folder as explained. I took time but it worked.
NOW I still have to questions/problems before continuying.

    1) HOW to restaure previous chat history and media to the WA for android installed ? I made a back up of both in the SD card (Media Card/WhatsApp with a folder called Databases and another called Media). FYI, when I installed the WA android it did not restaure automatically the backup I did.

    2) Is there any possibility to see WA in the BlackBerry Hub ?

CAN YOU PLEASE HELP ME ?
    Many thanks.

Hamed, first of all, congrats for this fix that I'm in the process of installing.
In your post, you say that we have to backup WA history chats and media that can be restored afterwards.
I have downloaded the WA for android (1.0.45.1857) and I HAVE also the Device/misc/android/WhatsApp folder. It took time but it worked.
NOW I still have two questions/problems before to continue.

    1) HOW to restaure previous chat history and media to the WA for android installed ? I made a backup of both in the SD card (Media Card/WhatsApp with a folder called Databases and another called Media). FYI, when I installed the WA android it did not restaure automatically the backup I did.

    Many thanks for your help.

I don't know if it's possible to restore a backup but you'll get a standard Android notification in the Hub (it won't be integrated like the native BB10 app).

    Hello,

Thanks for this fix, but it has refused to work on my phone. I have tried it several time and it tell me the path already exists since that first time.

I even went ahead to format my memory card but still did work.

I don't know what to do anymore.

    Please help.

    Hello Phopad,

I have the same problem but now it's over.
These are my step by step fixing:

    1. If you have installed current WA/WA apk, please delete them from your phone.
Go to File Manager-->misc-->android--> delete WA folder.
    2. If previously you have installed Google Play Service/Store, BB ID from Cobalt's, please delete them.
    3. Since I have a lot of try using WA apk but not worked, so I try WAplus
    Go to https://www.official-plus.com/
I run it and but until I entered code sent by sms, I stopped.
    4. Force closed this WA app through:
Setting-->Application Manager-->Device Monitor--> WA , click close button at the lowest.
(follow step 3 of hamed ghorbani)
    5. Create Android folder at your SD card. If you don't have it, get it first.
(follow step 1 of hamed ghorbani).
    6. Then installed BG Shell. Find it at BBW. The app name is BG SSH-SCP-SFTP Free.
    7. Open this BG Shell. Follow instruction from this thread:
(follow step 4. Thanks to @hamed ghorbani)
    8. I already have WAA fixer previously. I'm not sure it has effect or not but I still keep it.
If you don't have it, download it first :
    https://mega.nz/#!JiQBUaAR
Download it using your PC/laptop. Extract it and save at your PC drive.
Since I'm using Chrome web browser, it must have extension BB10/Playbook.
Go to Chrome, search for More Tools ---> Extensions---> Have check for BB10 / PlayBook App Manager 2.2.2
    Follow this step from youtube:

    10. Try to run WAplus

Maybe those steps would be useful for WA apk. But I'm not trying yet.

    Hopefully it helps

I'm looking into helping some family members setup the Android version of WhatsApp, at least until they can get a KeyOne in their hands.

How is this method working in comparison to the WAA fixer?

Regarding notifications, does WhatsApp push them (as general Android notifications) or does the app need to be running?

    Thanks for any input!

I'm sure these are the silliest couple of questions asked on this thread, apologies but I'm going to ask them anyway:
    1. Will I be able to install Android WhatsApp just like that on my BB Leap, without having to jump thru the hoops of installing Google playstore, google ID or otherwise handing over the keys to my kingdom to Google in some way? If yes, why can't I do the same for other Android apps e.g. cab hailing apps?
    2. Will we really know whether this solution (Android WhatsApp + directory change) works or not before the official pullout of WhatsApp support on 30 June 2017? Isn't 30 June the real test?

BTW as of today (touchwood!) I am able to use BB WhatsApp on my BB Leap just like any other user, share/fwd media files etc. without any workarounds/tools etc.

Thank you. No problem for the backup.
I've tried to continue the installation:
    1) I've set the Development mode
    2) I've set the Airplane mode
    3) I've moved the folder WhatsApp
    4) I've typed pwd in BGShell
    5) I've typed cd /accounts/1000/shared/misc/android in BGShell as explained...

and then I've got the following message in BGShell :
    /bin/sh: cd: /accounts/1000/shared/misc/android - Permission denied

Hence, it seems to me that it is a problem to finalize the installation.

    Can you help please ?
    Many thanks

The "old" WA version yes. BUT the installed WA for android version no. This last one is still active.
Exactly how explained in this solution.
Thank you very much for your help

Just to be extremely clear :

    1) I've added the SD Card and created the Android folder
    2) I've set the Development mode
    3) I've downloaded and installed BGShell
    4) I've downloaded and installed WA for android
    5) I've set the Airplane mode
    6) I've deleted the previous WA version (the NON-android one). BUT the WA android version is ACTIVE.
    7) I've moved the folder WhatsApp
    8) I've typed pwd in BGShell
    9) I've typed cd /accounts/1000/shared/misc/android in BGShell as explained...

and then I've got the following message in BGShell :
    /bin/sh: cd: /accounts/1000/shared/misc/android - Permission denied

Hence, it seems to me that it is a problem to finalize the installation.
So, should I also Force Close the WA android and then reinstall it at the end ?
    Or do something else ?

    I'm getting desperate here...

    Can you help please ?
    Many thanks

    Yes, force close Whatsapp.

    I did, very strictly.
But in the first post, it says :

    4. Download and install official WhatsApp android app on your BB10
    Link: https://www.whatsapp.com/android/

    ...and then :

    Step 2:

    *Updated*

Force close the WhatsApp which is currently running on your BB10. You can follow the two steps mentioned below:

So I close the "previous" version of WA and left the WA for android...

Hence, if I get you right, I have to force close also the WA for android and at the end of the fix, AFTER the BGShell part, I have to re-install WA for android ??????

Thank you very much for your help

Have you given BGShell access to the Shared Files permission (Settings -> Security and Privacy -> Application Permissions)?
