A simple app lock feature! Now I know many smart minds would wanna tell me that I should consider locking the phone with password (like I don't know) but I really want these smart minds to understand that sometimes we don't need to lock the whole phone but just a few apps, just simply for privacy. That doesn't mean that it has to dirty content or anything that needs to be prevented by locking. Hell, even Android has this feature. So please oh please BlackBerry just consider having this feature if you really wanna compete with those two OS's.

I see your point. I'm not sure it's a competing factor, but allow me this. When I lock my front door, I don't leave the back open. If the drivers door is locked, do I want the passengers unlocked? Again, I see your point, through the peep hole on my locked door, front door, rear door, bulkhead door and side door.

Most apps have to sign in when you use them anyways, just uncheck the Keep my logged in feature and sign out when finished.

You know I agree with OP.

This would be very helpful for certain apps.

For those that suggested other work arounds. No, that's just making things harder on yourself.

Also sometimes you want to let someone else use your phone. Calls, etcs. But not see other parts of your phone. Or to keep certain parts of your phone extra secure. That's where this will come in handy.

Would email BB directly... if enough users request the feature ... who knows... may see it in an up coming update.. I personally see no need for it in my daily use... but to each their own....

So a basic feature that I want... something BlackBerry's had long before Bb10 and still isn't here with the classic - say fully locking the device with the tap of a button, where waking it up immediately after requires a password on such a device and OS claiming to be "secure" yet cannot facilitate this basic MUST/NEED to have is me crying and I should go buy another phone?

The moment my employer states officially I can use a Samsung Galaxy S6 or iPhone 6 or later devices with BES12 Enterprise Suite you better believe I WILL! Canadian and BlackBerry fan but you should know if another entrant can do what BlackBerry can do with EMM/MDM and partner with carriers for unique billing and has a strong network - BlackBerry is in serious trouble.

PS: don't laugh Apple has a number of large data center and their building a LOT more! You can bet it's not for ApplePay or for iMessage in its current iteration. Lenovo, and Samsung have huge cash hoards to do a similar kind of NOC network. BlackBerry has already sold off 3/4 of their waterloo campus.

80% of what you said as nothing to do with the topic at hand.... you can lock by holding the power button and tapping lock. Oh wow so difficult. Another way to lock is setting the auto lock to 1 min... or auto lock when holstered.

This is a perfectly reasonable request.

It would be nice to hand your phone to your kids to play a few games without having to worry about them modifying or deleting important documents.

So I'd place some apps and folders, yes folders, behind this secondary password.

Here's the interesting part... BlackBerry has already implemented this! And it works great !

The only problem is this feature is only available for enterprise activated blackberries so they have personal and enterprise perimeters.

If this feature was made accessible and configurable for ALL blackberries it would be awesome !!

I knew people like you exist. And that's why I mentioned that it doesn't have to be dirty content or for you X rated content. Act wisely. You're a grown up, at least physically. Mentally I don't think so. You see this is not Facebook where you just comment to make people laugh. FYI, that wasn't funny, you are not funny. That was stupid. LOL

Which apps exactly are you wanting to lock because there's quite a few apps that have that option.

    Example : Password Keeper

    Well said sir. Well said.

I know some folks are absolutely devastated by perceived attacks on a tech platform, but I see nothing wrong with users asking for improvements.

    It's a function of maturity.
