I believe that the bb10 Facebook is finally dead. Tried it on two different devices and it just force closes.

Out of curiosity, I opened the PlayBook Facebook app. That still works. Go figure..

I have used Passport for 6 months, and used the default browser on BB to access facebook. At first, I installed an app of messenger on Blackberry app world, but i must to say that app is very lag, delayed when I sent or received my friends' messages. Finally, I uninstalled it and decided to use the browser instead of fb app. Now I feel happy with my decision.

Mine still works as it has been. I only use it for messages and notifications I the Hub. If I ever actually use Facebook, the mobile site is where I go. That is rare though...

Someone said before it might have to do with the cache memory or something. Guess you burned all your remaining cache! :P

I just tested it again. If I just open it, it force shuts. If I open it and minimize it, wait 30 seconds... it's ok and works. This was for both Z30 and 10

For some reason it stopped working for me on both Z30 and Z10. Now it's back working. I guess I jumped to conclusions.

The point is that the PlayBook version of Facebook still works. Basic version but it works.

Question is.... will the bb10 version actually stop working if the PlayBook version still works or will we just loose some functions as Facebook adds them?

People keep reporting that the deadline passed and Facebook still works on BB10. Well it still works on PlayBook and its been not supported for a few years..

    Just food for thought.

Mine stopped working a few weeks ago. It would open but then crash immediately. But I read this and tried it. Opened app, minimized it immediately, waited a few moments and then maximized the page AND the app works.

I don't know why penkejk believes this, but I will give it a try.

Facebook is no different from any other social media site: twitter, Google +, Crackberry etc. It gives you a view into the state of a collection of people and other entities. In API documents Facebook calls this the graph, to users it calls it the news feed. Early on the graph was simple. It was a time ordered sequence of posts from people you chose as "friends". This was very useful because in general we interact with other people in a time ordered series of events. Unfortunately Facebook did not remain this way.

Under pressure from competition, the vocal minority of users with short attention spans who are easily bored, and the drive to monetize the site they began to try to curate the experience. Their efforts to create a space that is always positive and ordered by quality instead of by time so that we will spend more time viewing a smaller but more predictable portion of our graph is really just an effort to expose us to more advertising which they hope is more lucrative. But while these efforts have made our graphs more valuable to them, they have made our graphs less valuable to us. They appear to have recognised this is happening. Perhaps you were asked to complete a survey recently. To me as a professional programmer the questions were a clear indication of a development team that has completely lost touch with their user base. Maybe we will see some changes for the better, but that isn't how this story usually plays out.

Facebook isn't alone in this trend. Twitter is also trying to curate our feeds. It has the same effect of devaluing the data on the feed.

I would have deleted my Facebook account long ago if it wasn't for the old BB10 native application. The Hub tells me everything I want to know about what is happening in my news feed and ordered by time the way I want it. It has even broken in a very useful way. Most of the posts won't open because Facebook has changed the API and won't allow BlackBerry access to the changes. But even this is a benefit to me. About 90% of the posts I want to see work just fine from the Hub. About 90% of the posts that don't work are my friends sharing click bate. I don't want to see these anyway. The remaining posts that I can't see but want to are easily taken care of in a few leisurely moments with the browser.

The best thing to happen to my user experience with Facebook since I created my account is the bit rot happening to the BB10 native application, caused by Facebook closing their API.

I use Facebook for following Fox news, National Rifles Association, Russia Today, George W. Bush, and Donald Trump.

I'll try to go back to the OS 10.3.2.2813, FB may be working again.

It's the FB app version. You must not upgrade to the latest version, then you'll be fine.

All right, I try to replace OS 10.3.2.2888 to 10.3.2.2813 with Sachesi but Facebook is still not working.

Then, I install the OS 10.3.2.2813 autoloader, Facebook functioning well again.

I use Facebook apk Version 29.0.0.23.13 on my Z30 . It works well, and with Hub notifications to boot. I could also open Facebook from the browser. A bit heavier, but also works.

What's more, I could install Facebook Messenger apk Version 25.0.0.17, and it works!!

LINE apk also works, along with the video chat.

Netflix, Spotify and Musixmatch also work!

    Go figure...
