So, FB through the HUB is working for me right now. But has anyone updated to 10.3.3 and tested to see if FB works?
The 10.3.3 update removes the FB app entirely and gives you the web link instead. And once you go 10.3.3, you can't go back - nor can you run the old app on 10.3.3. So if the old FB app is important to you, don't upgrade. Of course, the old app will stop working sooner or later anyway, but for now...

I get that. Which is why I haven't updated. Need FB for my business. What i'm trying to figure out is: Does having FB in the Hub go hand in hand with the app, like whatsapp? Or can you have FB in the Hub like individual email accounts?

Now you can update with new OS and use web browser or last working apk to browse FB.

Update via Sachesi, delete the two facebook related .bar files and update normally, my Facebook is still working after the update. 10.3.3

That's the only way you can keep Facebook.

Hi I upgraded to 10.3.3 and confirm that FB is permanently toast now despite my efforts to work around it. I used to be able to work around this with 10.3.2 and using the bar files but that won't work with the newest update to 10.3.3. So, I use Face10 free version for now to get my FB hub notifications etc. and just got passed on to APKMirror for Facebook Messenger Lite 2.1. I just installed it and you can see all your FB messages and looks like you can upload a pic etc. Not sure yet how the notifications will work but at least Messenger works.

I just tried this with a spare Q10 I had. An older version of FaceBook was installed on the Q10. I used Sachesi to non destructively update to 10.3.3.2049, deleting the two FaceBook files in the 10.3.3.2049 folder prior to using Sachesi to do the update.

After the update, I started Facebook, it asked me to login and opened the accounts page for FaceBook and I put in my password. It then logged in, went back to the app and the app loaded the Facebook content. Once I saw this was working, I upgraded to the last BB10 version using Sachesi and a file provided on one of the Facebook threads. Tried FaceBook again and it worked as well as it did prior to the 10.3.3.2049 upgrade.

Which two FB BAR-files where there? What are the full names of them both to be precise?

When I did the update, I deleted the only files that had facebook in the name. Then did the update.

To be clear, this method will only work on a phone that has not already been updated to 10.3.3.

Last night after the successful Q10 test, I updated a spare Passport using this method and it worked.

I never use the messages of Facebook, so turned the message sync off, even though it doesn't work anymore.

The point is that the old FB app stopped working as of now. It opens and then closes (or crashes) on my 10.3.2 Passport. So what was announced months ago has now become effective.

The crashing has been happening for months. It happens when something in your feed contains one of the new features not supported by the app. It has been suggested it is the advertising causing this. The whole point of FaceBook wanting everybody on current apps, so they get add revenue.

When the crashing starts, try going into accounts, edit the facebook account to not sync anything, then reboot and try opening facebook again. If the problem post is no longer in your feed, the app will work again. You can then edit the Facebook account settings so they were as you had them originally, though you might as well leave sync messages off, as they no longer work.

I just figured out how to get the old facebook app running on devices that have already done the upgrade.

Using Sachesi, I backed up just the Device setting on the Passport that I got FaceBook working on. This Passport has 10.3.3 on it, but I suppose if you had a 10.3.2 settings backup, it would probably work for the next step.

On the Passport that was upgraded to 10.3.3, I deleted the new FaceBook app and rebooted. I then connected to Sachesi, installed the facebook-10.7.31.9-nto+armle-v7+signed.bar. I did not open the FaceBook app after installing it. The next step was to restore the Device settings backup using Sachesi.

After the restore, the phone will automatically reboot and after booted, you will get warnings to enter your FaceBook, email, twitter and etc account passwords again. Give the phone a few minutes to stabilize and then open the FaceBook App. It will then ask you to log in again and bring you to the FaceBook account page in settings where you can put in your password. Going directly to the account settings will not show your FaceBook account settings, 10.3.3 has taken it out of the list. Initiating the FaceBook account setting from the first start of the FaceBook app will open the FaceBook account settings.

    edit:

On the Passport that I used this method on, a ShopBlackBerry that got the 10.3.3 update OTA, when I check for software updates, I get a 24mb update, which coincidentally is the same size as the FaceBook update available in BlackBerry world. I assume doing the 24mb software update will just reinstall the latest FaceBook.

I did the same on my Passport SE that I bought from shop BlackBerry except I used BlackBerry link to restore a previous saved back up before the update of 10.3.3 and it works for me.

Yes, you're right and I shut off automatic OS update within the OS software update settings of BB10. I don't install the 24 MB afterwards.

The messages function no longer works. Facebook does not allow it the way the BlackBerry App was doing it.
