Evidence Blackberry 10 phones will work even if bbid shuts down.
- Since last Saturday (for 4 days) I'm BBID-less. I'm collecting experiences that I soon plan to share...
So far I can say, that after restoring the phone with link (after turning off Blackberry Protect), the phone came back without BBID and WITH a previously installed and fully functional version of Content Transfer App (Media Mushroom). In other words the Content Transfer App did not get deleted, while all other not preinstalled apps did get deleted.03-13-19 04:32 PMLike 0 - Since last Saturday (for 4 days) I'm BBID-less. This is the only way that I currently found that backs up much of the phone.
So in my BBID-less case, it is good "insurance" for the very distant future for any possible device switch.
It may also serve as a current means of back up, although I still need to figure out how to get all the backed up stuff back onto BB10 (currently Content Transfer appears to work only one way, from BB10 to Android).03-13-19 06:05 PMLike 0 - Yeah, that's what I was wondering about. You'll need an alternate way to get it back onto BB10, though it should be possible somehow.03-13-19 06:17 PMLike 0

Were I you, I would follow up on this to clarify their point about applications...as DDD says Blackberry World is specifically listed as shutting down, so I'd ask from where they suggest we download them. But either way, good work!03-14-19 03:26 AMLike 0 - If you really "need" something... not sure using BB10 is going to be a safe solution at that point. I'd be dual carrying with a "backup" if your job requires a smartphone...03-14-19 07:12 AMLike 0

Posted via CB1003-14-19 08:26 AMLike 0 - We have not heard anything at all about support with BES and BB10. I am assuming your BES admin has been informed though and would have all info needed since that is probably the plug has not already been pulled for BB1003-14-19 08:42 AMLike 0

But... BES, you'll need to check with your Administrator to see if BB10 will be supported by their UEM anymore. Some older levels of BES required carrier support for BB10, as well as BlackBerry's NOC, that's all part of the legacy BES that is EOL too.
I assume BlackBerry has communicated with the rebranded BlackBerry Unified Endpoint Manager administrators, on the compatibility of BB10 devices going forward. So check with IT...03-14-19 08:54 AMLike 0 -
One thing is for sure. I won't BBID my phone any longer. I won't put myself in that kind of dependency.
I'm using 2x phones (which has pretty much became standard among business users). My other phone has all the application junk. Blackberry serves for eMail, text and most importantly as PDA to store personal data.03-14-19 09:46 AMLike 0 - Well. It works without BBID to begin with. Which hopefully means that it might be extracted to use as bar file. Further I thought link has a function to restore the even a BBID-less phone. Lot's of things to try - I will try some time.

I tried to use LINK on a PC with clean install of Windows... it wants a BBID. I think I could get past that point, but it wouldn't connect to my BBIDless Z10. Maybe you can get it to work, or maybe BBID just never goes away....03-14-19 10:23 AMLike 0 - Lot of hope for extracting bar files.... so far it hasn't been done.

I know just assumption, like I said I need to try. I will do when I have more time on the weekend.03-14-19 10:25 AMLike 0 - Yes, it wants BBID to connect to the phone, but if I recall correctly there is still an option that says click here if you have problems with the phone. So I ASSUME that may send out a reset signal.

But again... BBID might stay up, BlackBerry might patch things to make things work without it - have to be a big security declaimer, so I doubt that.ppeters914 likes this.03-14-19 10:52 AMLike 1 - Hi Buddy,
Hope your doing well. Its a exact phone that what im searching for. But I have a small doubt over this . Can third party apps works on all blackberry phones or limited mobiles.03-19-19 09:08 AMLike 0 -
But in general if you want "today" major apps... you need to skip a BBOS or BB10 powered BlackBerry and go with one of the Android powered phones.
Topic in this tread is about BB10... while it is compatible with apps that are compatible with Android 4.3... that list is getting smaller and smaller.03-19-19 11:42 AMLike 0 -
"Cutting its loyal customers free" is quite an interesting way of saying "barely escaped bankruptcy".04-14-19 08:39 AMLike 0 -
I see no reason to upgrade to and Key-x model other than perhaps to support BBMo with my purchase. But hey, they don't support me by giving me what I want (toolbelt), so why should I care about them and support them by giving them what they want (my money).
I picked up the last 2x Classics for $125 brand new (sealed) on Amazon. I have the AT&T version that supports wireless charging, which is very important for me and works just so great.
People who are defending Blackberry for leaving out the toolbelt are making it look like it happens in order to broaden Blackberries customer base, as if no one would be interested in toolbelt. Most toolbelt fans like myself are already familiar (and tired) with their arguments.bb9900user2018 likes this.04-14-19 09:57 AMLike 1
