Here are some other apps for Blackberry that hit EOL(End of Life)

These are not as popular as Facebook or Whatsapp both will no longer be supported as of March 18, 2016

They will continue to work but you should consider other messaging options

Those apps were so old and already having so many issues. But sad to see they going like that, unsupported....

What are the alternatives for GoogleTalk and Yahoo Messenger those days??

Who cares? BlackBerry 10 remains the best OS in terms of usability for business. I own a priv also, but the Passport kills it in terms of battery life, reception and speed of input. I too was feeling left out in terms of app availability but since owning the priv and trying to avail myself of all I felt was missing from BlackBerry 10, I have come to appreciate that the vast majority of apps are just fluff designed to raid your info, sell you stuff, get you into an ecosystem or just plain waste your time. I bought the Priv as a personal phone to complement the Passport which I use for work, but ironically it is now filled with "serious" apps like the MS office ones and dupes of existing BlackBerry 10 apps like clipman. True, I can now control my central heating from my phone, but I'm using the Priv less and less because the things I do the most (call, text, read, write, move files about etc) are all done better on my Passport. Each to his own I guess but on the weekend I don't mind using Android, during the week however, speed, accuracy and efficiency are paramount. Like I said, just my take.

What? These two pigs will be EOL on all platforms before the year is over -- and Yahoo may not even be a company anymore by Autumn.

So as a big user of Google Talk, what are the practical implications of this? As of this morning (3/18) GTalk is still working on my Q10. Does this mean that if the Google Talk API changes, then the app may stop working, or that BOOM today, tomorrow, soon, the app is just going to stop working (absent an API change?)

Has anybody gotten Google Hangouts to work on BB10?

Whatsapp, Facebook, now these two, all this bad news coming down in March.

Now I'm getting worried that they know something we don't... something BlackBerry might be planning to announce on April 1st.

Hg10 is a good alternative for Google Talk, the BBW link doesn't seem to work but it's an open source project,

Google Talk allowed for text chat with contacts on Hangouts and Yahoo recently relaunched Messenger. In light of recent app news, fewer "first party" solutions isn't good IMO.

It will continue to work but there will be no more support. So if it breaks because Google or Yahoo changes something in the API, or for whatever reason that is it. No security patches or updates.
