Mostly disgruntled fanboys who still can't accept BlackBerry dumped BB10 in favor of Android.

That's not to say android is better as an os. It's not. It has apps, bb10 doesn't have as many. I have no way to prove this, but I believe that if bb10 had more popular apps such as snapchat. We wouldn't be having this conversation. Android really is inferior to bb10. I say that as a former android user that had never owned a BlackBerry prior to os10.

BlackBerry made the phone and added their own software layer and security onto the phone. There is no doubt this is a BlackBerry phone. No other android phone has an android like this. Get over it. BlackBerry had to make the change to survive.

My point was, when BB10 launched there were BBOS loyalists saying it wasn't a true BlackBerry phone anymore. When they took away the trackpad there were loyalists saying it wasn't BlackBerry phone anymore. Regardless of the OS, the fact of the matter is the name of the OS doesn't go on a phone, the name of the manufacturer does. No matter what it's running if BlackBerry is selling it as a Blackberry, it's a BlackBerry regardless of what your definition is. And if android was something people put in phones to all be the same, why would they go out of their way to make their own customized ROMS like TouchWiz, Sense etc? Nonsense.

    Posted via CB10
As I have said before you can define what you think is a Blackberry and I will continue to define what I think a Blackberry is. My Blackberry has a Blackberry operating system NOT Android.

seriously, enough articles about this phone already.
we already took a poll, and no one cared for a blackberry that doesn't run bb10. I understand going after another market sector, but can we get back to the business of making blackberries, please?

The real question is, where was this poll placed? Asking a group of BB10 fans whether or not they care about an Android-based BlackBerry wouldn't reflect real demand. It's like asking Steve Ballmer whether or not Office is better on Macs or Windows -- you know he's going to say Windows, no matter what others say.

You want to ask the larger BlackBerry user base, the ones who may like BB10 but aren't necessarily joined at the hip to it. For that matter, you'd also want to ask the legions of people who left BlackBerry because the apps and features they want aren't there. If the Priv gets people coming back to BlackBerry and even excited about it, that's a good thing, isn't it?

Welcome to privberry....the new all priv forum..lol...relax everyone, it's inevitable, BlackBerry needs to expand to all markets. Just enjoy your bb10 devices as I will as well, but will eventually be testing the priv waters as well. No need to hate on people or despise a device you haven't even used. It's a BlackBerry device at its core with BlackBerry security and support. Let's play nice

I would agree with that. IF they release that, I'm pretty sure it won't get carrier support. I'd like to see the source as well. I'd consider a vzw version as long as at least the current android runtime is there.

IF you need the apps because the phone os doesn't already do what bb10 can. You NEED apps on Android and iPhone more than you do for basic things

This funny narrative gets told hear and Windows Central... Android and iOS need apps. Clearly, BlackBerry believes it needs apps too.

Nah. Apps make life easier. You posted that with the help of one.

No one platform maker is able to create and maintain all the apps a diverse customer base needs. The winning play is to get specialists (app developers) to buttress it.

I'm not saying that apps don't sometimes make things easier, but what I was getting at was that bb10 does a lot that you NEED an app to do on other platforms. Separate text ring tones for contacts for example. On Android you have to get an app to do that, at least the last version I had you did. You need an app for a file manager. Bb10 does it. Those are just 2 examples of what I meant you can't dispute it because to do so would be lying. Bake stuff like that in and screw the apps if people don't need/ want them. I like bb10. I don't hate android, but I do hate Google. With Priv maybe I can make the Google part of android tolerable.

    Fair points. They make sense.

I'd rather have an empty template I can pick and choose what I want. For example, I like having the ability to pick from scores of keyboard apps, all battling to be best, instead of having to go with stock.

Plus, third-party development help push stock development. Google Maps on Android is as good as it is IMHO because there are so many options that force Google to be at the top of its game.

I don't think you need a separate app to assign ringtones on Android.

I don't think you need a separate app to assign ringtones on Android.
On the last couple androids I had, I could assign separate ring tones but without an app I couldn't assign separate tones for texts per contact. If that's changed back then great. With bb10 I can do it out of the box. Just one example. My main issue with android is Google itself. I still think os10 is a better system than android, but if Google would keep its nose out of thing that doesn't concern it, I'd be a little warmer toward android. Google snooping is why I left android to begin with.

Appalling marketing is what is killing /has killed BB10.
We are all free to make our own choices but I don't know many people who even know about the existence of BB10 which means the marketing people did a terrible job. BB10 is a great OS and I'll carry on with my Z30 thank you.
If I wanted an Android device, I wouldnt be paying the price of the Priv though, so if BlackBerry are hoping to win back market share with this device then I have my doubts.
Main thing is we all enjoy our BB10 devices while we can

Unless you work where I work and your phone is handed to you with apps that you need to do your job. The world changes.

Why do you think BB was courting developers and building an SDK and hosting all those BB Jams?
