Hi
Are there any decent encrypted Voip apps for BB10? I tried loading Redphone via Snap but it didn't work.
I had a one-way communication with redphone talking to a real Android phone from my Z10. My gut feeling is the next generation Android layer will fix things. I'm on an older leak of 10.3.1. I figure when the final 10.3.1 comes out I will try again.
Redphone looks like a good app. I think working on it is worth the effort.

I also had a one-way communication talking to an iPhone. The app is called "Signal" on the iPhone, and "Redphone" on Android. I don't understand what the hell they were thinking.
Anyways, I'd also like to know if anyone can get RedPhone to work, or if there is a better/working alternative. :)
Well I assume/hope on a real Android phone the communications are two way.

I was criticizing the fact that they gave the iPhone version a different name. I had trouble finding it at first. But yes, I'm sure it works on a real Android.
Still looking for something that works. Anyone?
Truphone has "secure calling " option

Thank you for that. Do you have any reviews on its security?

Linphone +ostel works

I tried Linphone but it was very quiet. I am begining to lose faith with BB and security. Might be time to move to Android after all these years of loyalty.
I can't remember where it was, but there was a setting or option when in call to boost the volume

Android security? ;-)
BTW, shouldn't the question be which BlackBerry bb10 apps support ZRTP?

Just checked.. can't find it now
I'll post if I figure it out again, I don't use the app much though

Is BBM voice chat encrypted? Not sure if it is considered VOIP.
According to the documented security note, It's transported over tcp/udp with no mention of any encryption.
But the KB state(d/s) that it is encrypted..
"SIP connection over TLS to global.uci.blackberry.com over port 443"
So yep, it would be considered voip
Considering it's SIP... why it isnt using zrtp is my question

Most BlackBerry encryption doesn't have a private key per user, unless you are on BES. Well that is my understanding, so don't take it as gospel.
The thing with security is if the code isn't open source, you never know if there is a backdoor.
I noticed the Taki website on sourceforge has a request for adding ZRTP to Taki. The author is pretty sharp, looking at what else he wrote, nor does he charge much for Taki. It is open source of you want to go through the pain of setting up Momentics, but it is only a dollar to download.

Anything new guys?
I looked at Truphone but there is no information on their security implementation other than that they have a "secure call" feature. It seems to be just a bonus feature tacked onto the rest of the app. Their app is not built upon security, such as with RedPhone.
RedPhone and TextSecure are two apps I'd like to see on BB10. A port should be possible since they are both open source.

We tried RedPhone (called Signal on iPhone) between a BB10 and an iPhone and it didn't work. I think I could hear the other person but they couldn't, or vice versa. Other issues too. I don't remember anymore :p

That websites security certificate expired yesterday and my Classic is blocking it.

I do not believe there are cheaper alternatives. These types of solutions are usually $1K+
