I installed the Ebay app, and though it is an android port, it works nice. I noticed that when i get an email, e.g. shipping notification, i also get a notification (the little bell icon) telling me about the same thing.

while this is not too bad, i wonder how this works - its not like there is a push service from ebay, nor is the ebay app running so it could filter the emails or something like that.

so - where does that notification come from??

There is a push service from ebay and actually Android apps can run in the background without the active frame unlike the bb10 apps

Wait.. Android apps can run in background, but native apps cant? You sure about that?

They seem to come at the same time every day. For me it 6:03, 11:03 and so on

No way, stop kidding, you must be joking. An Android phone can't possibly run something in the background like my BB. Kidding aside, the eBay app on Android and iOS receive push notifications.

That's a bit of disinformation.. BlackBerry apps can do the same.

My stock app is BlackBerry Native and so is CB10, and they can both notify without running in an AF, although these apps don't push to notifications in the Hub I assume that is by design and that they can leverage that if they chose.

I got notifications too from the formula1 race. It is an app for live timing called "live24 racing". Even with the app closed it sent notifications. Don't know how it works too. Am I getting push notifications from a server on the internet? Or is there something running in background?

I'm sure that app is tied into BlackBerry push services.. proving my point above that it is possible for BlackBerry apps as well.. thanks.. I forgot that app did that!
