Anyone here know based on experience...

If you make 10 incorrect attempts at unlocking a device that has Encryption enabled for both itself and the SD card, will it decrypt itself first, or will it auto-wipe without decrypting, thus rendering the contents of the SD card unreadable?

It will not decrypt, SD card will became unreadable.

In fact, this is the whole purpose of encrypting the SD card and having your phone protected by a password.

Wouldn't that be terribly insecure, if it is decrypted when someone just enters wrong passwords?

I once ran an auto-loader/security wipe on my device without decrypting the SD card first, and it ended up unreadable. Not exactly the same, but pretty close to what you want to know I guess.

Definitely!! It isn't me that I'm worried about entering the wrong password for whatever malicious reasons

Yeah, of course. You just can't get back all your old data.
