I am seeing on various threads that a new update is rolling out. I am curious as to how its performances are, and whether it's worth the time to take my Classic out of the drawer and fire it up for the update (I stopped using it due to constant DT issues)

Apparently it's more of a software issue, because you can't reproduce it on purpose. So I am wondering, does this new update fix this?

    What's DT issues,

double typing, yes it might fix it and if not why didn't you return it.

The majority of the posts around here imply it's a hardware, not a software issue.
I have a Q10, and it double-types, and not a single hardware update is going to change that. Here's hoping it doesn't get worse.

But if it's a hardware (mechanical) issue, then why can't I double type on purpose? It almost always happens in the beginning of writing something...

Valid point. I'd say try the update and if that does not help return it.

Definitely not. It actually got worse for me. I went through four weeks with almost no double-typing. Since I updated yesterday it happened about ten times in 24 hours.

Nope it's still there. It's software related because it only happens in certain apps like browser, text and CB10. I tried replicating the problem with a 10 paragraph email and no DT. I think it has something to do with response time and how the CPU registers each keys.

Replaced my passport: no more double typing, and I did a full backup and restore.

I think the jury is still out. I get it everywhere. BBM, emails, browser etc. No matter what OS I use. Including the latest.

I've not got a physical keyboard however it sounds like a memory issue to me like you used to experience in early versions of OpenOffice (Sun Microsystems).

Man its really tough to defend BlackBerry on this one. They pride themselves on being physical keyboard specialists and even sue anyone else that tries to make them. But yet their own "specialty " has been faulty and disastrous on the majority of their BB10 devices. It's really sad. And even sadder that they haven't ever addressed it. Pathetic actually.

I swapped my keyboard out on each of my 3 Q10's. Still have an extra one as I ended up trading my last one in. Mine were obviously all hardware related double type usually after 4-6 months.

My thoughts exactly. When pkb fails, I don't know what's the point of sticking with blackberry anymore...(hence I switched to iPhone 6)

So you would have a phone that can be restarted from a stupid text msg, every device has its problems I've owned most all of them, and even with double typing my passport kills any iPhone on the market and most androids , only one doesn't the note 4.

And my typing was fixed on the newest leak so it's not all hardware.

My Q10 was a hand-me-down, and was at least a year old with fairly heavy use. The previous owner said they had no double typing issues when they used it.

I safely assume it's hardware because I've updated twice since getting the phone. Doesn't matter what app I use, I'll double type at some point or another.

DT is a special feature, only for a few.

Kidding aside, it's been months since I don't have DT issue anymore. Must have been fixed on this new OS 10.3.2.

I had the double typing problem with my 9930, so whether it's a software or hardware issue, it's not an issue with BB10 or the current phones exclusively. They control the hardware and software, so BlackBerry doesn't have an excuse.
